Federalizing Our Nation

Glenn Beck had an interesting segment on his TV show the other day that sort of coincided with a posting I did a short while ago. He showed a map that shows how much of the nation is currently owned by the federal government instead of the individual states. This is exceedingly the case in the western part of the country.

Interestingly enough, under the Obama administration, this trend is accelerating as the federal government tries to acquire ever more state land to put under federal control. This is particularly true of areas where natural resources are plentiful such as natural gas, oil, timber etc. The Obama administration either makes these lands into national parks or national monuments or uses other nefarious means so that individual states cannot tap and utilize resources that are within their borders.

This seems particularly egregious when it comes to energy resources such as oil and natural gas, considering that Obama claims to want to become energy independent as a nation and yet hand-cuffs us from developing our own natural resources in order to do so.

It sure begs the question of why would the government do this? I know many western states have had enough and are now fighting back. Too much state land is being removed from local state control. Much of the land is locked up so that it cannot be farmed, ranched, developed, or have resources utilized. Further, this land is now property of the federal government so the state would not be able to levy taxes if this land was able to be utilized by its citizens.

This is just one more example of the usurpation of our liberties under this increasingly tyrannical federal government. I am glad to see that some states are finally fighting back.

Citing Glenn Beck as a source for anything calls into question your mental state. Are you okay, man? I'm worried for you.

The facts of the matter are accurate, whether or not you like the source of where I obtained these facts. Look at the Bureau of Land Management or the Department of the Interior and you will find validation of how much of the U.S., particularly in the west, is considered "federal land".
