This man is amazing. One would think Obama would have learned better after the criticism he received after bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia. Whomever is running the executive branch's office of protocol should be fired. I sure am glad he is restoring America's image on the global stage. What is Obama's motto? Speak timidly and carry no stick?

Did I miss something? Are we currently at war with Japan? Did Obama's bow upset the Japanese in some way?
Are you serious Jim? The President of the United States is not supposed to bow to foreign monarchy whether that be the King of Saudi Arabia, the Japanese Emperor, or the Queen of England.
It is completely against protocol and as the head of the United States it makes us look comparatively weak and subservient. The president should absolutely be respectful in all matters, but only a subject should bow or curtsey to their monarch. The leader of the last remaining world super-power should not be doing so.
By the way, this point is proven in the pictures there as all of the other heads of state do not bow to the emperor of Japan, and rightfully so. He is NOT there emperor.
Maybe everybody else is wrong. Bowing is a common practice in Japan.
I lived in Japan for most of a year. I am aware of this. It changes nothing when it comes to proper protocol and ettiquette for a head of state.
