The Irish

"Have we ever seen a nation so overjoyed at the prospect of killing their own children?"

I found this single-line thought posted at Collecting My Thoughts and nearly wept at the profundity it expressed.

The ignorance and callousness of people that should know better regarding such an evil is truly disheartening.  How does a nation that considers itself to be Catholic reconcile the legalization of this barbaric atrocity known to them as "choice" with some of God's most solemn commandments to love one another and to not kill the innocent?

Surely our Lord must weep at this travesty.  I guess in that regard, I am still in good company.

A nation that recognizes the laws of their faith are not the same as the secular laws of the land. A nation that recognizes that people are not perfect beings that make perfect choices or have things happen to them. Since people in that nation live on Earth and not On High in the Kingdom of God, they have to address the needs that arise from imperfect beings with imperfect needs.

"Surely our Lord must weep at this travesty."

Why would Our Lord weep when His creations exercise the free will that He endowed us with? His creations are acting in a way he should expect them to, given free will. The only reaction to our choices I'd expect from Our Lord would be, if anything at all, bemusement.

I don't recall the Commandment that says, "Thou shalt nurture the embryo of your rapist, and bear gladly the child of your rapist".

Did our Lord weep at a war based on lies? A war that killed embryos and thousands of developed humans alike? A war that spawned ISIS and gave Iran an ally?

Does our Lord rejoice at tax cuts for the rich and gutting Children's Health Insurance Program?

Republican Jesus, yes. Children matter less than tax cuts to him.

I hope Mr. Paine enjoys his tax cut bonus, and pictures the poor child denied health care for his new rifle or other toy.

How's that for some old-fashioned Catholic guilt?

There is no chip on my shoulder. No burr under my saddle. I ws engaging in conversation and you asked a question that was neither here nor there. I do not understand why you were asking what you were asking. So I asked.

You spend plenty of your time rummaging through blogs and opinion pieces and C&Ping them here without any context. You spend plenty of your ample free time doing that, but you do not think it is worth your time to have a conversation? Noted. That's your perogative.

They are not forcing abortions. It's a matter of freedom and letting each person decide for themselves what is moral for them. I see both sides of the political divide as wanting to limit someone else's freedom and thinking they don't know enough to make the decision for themselves. The frank truth is abortions continue to happen when it's illegal-- it's just more dangerous. If you think it's wrong for you, then it's wrong. But not everybody is religious and even in our country where the majority call themselves Christian, what that means isn't the same.

Real rocket science here "do not understand why you were asking what you were asking", DUH because I wanted to know. It's called a conversation.

I know, I know! It makes MM a "very fine person", of course, sympathizing with those who marched with Nazis.

Still no answer why negotiating with North Korea is OK for the racist White Guy and NOT OK for the Black Guy.

Seems like a sentiment shared by "very fine people".

Dave Dubya said...

Want to hear more crickets? MM was outraged over Trump's mythical "spygate". Now what does he say?

Oh, oh! Accidental Truth on FOX(R):

Shep Smith:

"Trump claimed Feds spied on his campaign ... calls it Spygate. Fox News can confirm it is not. Fox News knows of no evidence to support the president's claim."

"Racism is not funny and Roseanne Barr is a racist. Now her show is cancelled."
=
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said on Fox News, “I am even more convinced that the FBI did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got, and that it has nothing to do with Donald Trump.”

“President Trump himself in the [former FBI Director James] Comey memos said, ‘If anyone connected with my campaign was working with Russia, I want you to investigate it,’” Gowdy said Tuesday on Fox News. “Sounds to me like that was exactly what the FBI did.”
=
On Tuesday night’s “The Story With Martha MacCallum,” Judge Andrew Napolitano was asked to weigh in on Trump’s false claim that the FBI was “spying” on his campaign at the direction of the Obama administration.

“The allegations by Mayor Giuliani over the weekend, which would lead to us to believe that the Trump people think that the FBI had an undercover agent who inveigled his way into the campaign, and was there as a spy on the campaign, seem to be baseless,” Napolitano said. “There’s no evidence for that whatsoever.”

Napolitano added that the FBI’s alleged use of an informant “talking to people on the periphery of the campaign, that is standard operating procedure in intelligence gathering, and in criminal investigations.”

Majormajor said...

Jg,

What does your support of Dave W who refuses to attack the largest racist organization in America, The Nation Of Islam, make you?

TB3 said...

Come on, JG! Answer his question! He clearly needs an answer to apease his desire to feel better about his own choices through whataboutism. It doesn't matter who he supports, right? So long as he can get you to admit to supporting someone who doesn't support the racism of a religious/political group that hasn't been relevant to current political discourse in years! Or something. Jeez, it reminds me of the Obama years and the constant, irrelevant references to Bill Ayers. Such strange arguments about such unimportant things.

Dave Dubya said...

We do know MM supports the very fine people marching with Nazis. It makes him FEEEEEEEL better to falsely believe I, or anyone he hates, supports Nation of Islam.

I hope we won't have to report his disloyalty.

Thanks for your help and support in getting a straight answer from Jg or Dave W. I've been asking that question a long time before they started their latest crusade to try and tie me to Nazism, with no answer. So you see TB, it's they who are playing "whataboutism'.

I don't know, Chuck. Since Dave never claimed loyalty toward, or support of, the Nation of Islam, I'm pretty sure it doesn't make me anything. Well, except a sympathizer of speakers of truth and justice.

Of course, your stupid-ass question certainly has your rationality highly suspect. There's no other polite way to phrase it.

What does that say?

I report, you decide.

Majormajor said...

For the record, I've never supported or agreed with the Nazis. What Dave and Jg are doing is playing their favorite game of saying if you don't criticize someone they say is a Nazi, of racist (which Goggle now says is “California Republicans” or “California Republican Party” when you search per USA) you are a Nazi. or a racist

But using Jg's line of "reasoning" since I've never never claimed loyalty toward, or support of ______ fill in the blank, I have no reason to say anything, as Dave W. What happen next has happened in the past when Jg and Dave W don't or can't answer a question, my question is discredited IE: stupid-ass question.

I've told you already my experience in answering their questions in the past. If you read the dialogs between them and Mr. Paine, you will see the same pattern there, a pattern that Jg likes to call "speakers of truth and justice". A lie of the largest dimensions is hard to imagine.

What you will see next is charges of racism from Dave W. Out of anger or frustration cause thst's all he's got, I don't know or really care.. It so old, boring and predictable.

TB3 said...

MM,

To be fair, saying this:

""Very fine people on both sides" is the correct and complete quote, not the LIE posted earlier."

Doesn't really add to your defense against their charges. The whole Black Nationalism and Nation of Islam thing you keep going on and on about doesn't help stop their charges, either.

I feel like people need to come to the understanding that politics shouldn't be regarded as some team sport where you're a fan and you blindly follow your team regardless of what they do. If the President says or does something stupid/racist/wrong, even if they are a member of your preferred party, it doesn't detract from your own personal political views when you or someone else calls out that behavior.

It's ok to say No, there were very fine people counter-protesting Nazis and white-supremecists. Such a weird hill to stake your flag to and die on defending "very fine people" on the Nazi side. Especially given the context that one of the stated goals of Nathan Damigo was to use the event to unite the white supremecist factions.

Majormajor said...

Bet the Black Messiah will get credit for this even though he's been out of office for almost 18 months.

The unemployment rate for black workers hit new record lows in May, the Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday.

Black unemployment fell sharply to 5.9 percent, beating out the 6.6 percent record low that was set a month earlier.

The unemployment rate for Hispanic workers hit a record low in April, at 4.8 percent, but it rose slightly to 4.9 percent in May.

The total unemployment rate for white workers dropped from 3.6 percent to 3.5 percent.

Note: "It's ok to say No" unless you are on the lefty's team and then ignore the NOI (America's largest racist group) and the long list of Black Racist organizations that the Southern Poverty Law Center provided. It works both ways.

TB3 said...

"It works both ways"

That's Whataboutism. That's fingerpointing. And that's no defense to the charges leveled in your direction. When the argument revolves around the recent upsurge in White-supremecy and the increase in recorded hate crimes, you do not make a credible defense by decrying the Nation of Islam or BLM.
As they have little to nothing to do with the increase in white-supremecy.
Furthermore, referring to our last President as "The Black Messiah" isn't helping your argument either.

On a side note; I find it amusing that it's suddenly okay to accept the the U-4 Unemployment Rate nmbers now that it's convenient. I am overjoyed the Unemployment rate for Blacks and Hispanics have been on a downward trend since 2010 and that they are at their lowest levels now.

Dave Dubya said...

Black unemployment went from 16% down to 8% under the Black Guy.

A drop of EIGHT points, but no credit to the "Black Messiah" from MM. I wonder why?

All glory to the White Racist for inheriting a good economy and a TWO point drop in 18 months, the SAME percentage drop for Obama's last 18 months.

All praise to the Birther! None for the Black guy! I wonder why?

Yeah, we got it. His message is quite clear.

Now if only MM could explain why meeting with Kim is OK for the White Nationalist, but was NOT OK for the Black guy.

Majormajor said...

OH LOL, Now I'm being incredibly disingenuous??

Does that apply to Dave's claim that the latest numbers are all due to Obama?

Explain "fundamental misunderstanding of either what unemployment is or the powers the President of United States", enlighten me. Keep in mind that what you say will also apply to Obama.

Do you remember the predictions of an economic meltdown if Trump became President made by the wise liberals? Did they also have a "fundamental misunderstanding"?

I have never seen people who hated good news for Americans as much as I've seen from liberals and leftist since Trump became President. I'm not race baiting, I'm liberal&leftist baiting. For they are the ones who here and on their own blogs have said Conservatives, the GOP, whites(who are Nazi racists)and President Trump hate the poor and minorities, over and over again. I'm just following their leadership, and logic that Conservatives, GOP and President hate minorities and the poor and would never do anything to help them. Yet the numbers, the facts, the reality shows their claims to be lies.

The irony is as more minorities find work and as their wages grow as they have in the last 12 months there will be less demand for the programs that the left has put into place. Notice I said less demand, not done away with. (Of course less demand means a need for less tax dollars and as we have seen in the past, any funding cuts will be called heartless, greedy, etc. by liberals&leftist regardless of the level of demand for the programs.)

New York Attorney General: Let’s Prosecute People Twice For The Same Crime

Never mind what the Constitution says. Liberals and leftist know what's best.

"Lawmakers must act now to close New York’s double jeopardy loophole."
New York Attorney General (@NewYorkStateAG) May 31, 2018

"The “double-jeopardy loophole” is actually just called “double jeopardy” – you can’t be prosecuted twice for the same crime. And if you’re pardoned for a crime, you can’t be tried or jailed again for the same crime. The entire purpose of the Constitutional provision barring double jeopardy is to prevent the political prosecution of people for crimes for which they have already been acquitted. And the NY Attorney General is now explicitly calling for jailing people they don’t like politically."

Ben Shapiro

TB3 said...

Dave did not make this claim.

"Explain "fundamental misunderstanding of either what unemployment is or the powers the President of United States", enlighten me. Keep in mind that what you say will also apply to Obama."

I think what I said is pretty straight forward, MM. What do you not understand about what I said?

"Do you remember the predictions of an economic meltdown if Trump became President made by the wise liberals? Did they also have a "fundamental misunderstanding"?"

No, I do not. Do you mind sharing a source with me and I will educate myself?

"I have never seen people who hated good news for Americans as much as I've seen from liberals and leftist since Trump became President."

Who hates good news? I, for one, literally typed:

"I am overjoyed the Unemployment rate for Blacks and Hispanics have been on a downward trend since 2010 and that they are at their lowest levels now." @ Timestamp June 1, 2018 at 9:21 AM

" I'm not race baiting, I'm liberal&leftist baiting"

And now you're openly admitting that you're not trying to have a conversation, you're trying to start an argument or confrontation. Thank you for the honesty.

"For they are the ones who here and on their own blogs have said Conservatives, the GOP, whites(who are Nazi racists)and President Trump hate the poor and minorities, over and over again. I'm just following their leadership, and logic that Conservatives, GOP and President hate minorities and the poor and would never do anything to help them. Yet the numbers, the facts, the reality shows their claims to be lies."

I can't even unpack this. Are you literally saying that "Liberals"/"Leftists" make you act like this? You have no control over your responses? Liberals/Leftests make you bait and troll? A charmed existance.

"The irony is as more minorities find work and as their wages grow as they have in the last 12 months there will be less demand for the programs that the left has put into place."

Yes. I believe that is how these programs are meant to function as well. Well, scratch that. I'd change the word 'minorities' to 'people'.

" (Of course less demand means a need for less tax dollars and as we have seen in the past, any funding cuts will be called heartless, greedy, etc. by liberals&leftist regardless of the level of demand for the programs.)"

I think cuts are decried because they are made not using demand for the programs as a rubric. If cuts to a program stops a person who had been using it from using it anymore, than we're not talking about cuts based off lack of usage or need.

Goebbels would’ve loved this tactic. Dishonest Cons also really need to invent their own realities to attack Liberals.

I have to note the one honest truth Majormajor allowed to slip through his deflection, deception and distractions: “I'm liberal&leftist baiting.”

In other words, a troll. LOL! This is what we love about him.

We can add that to the Nazi sympathizer he admitted to being by his loyalty to his “very fine people”.

Does anybody still wonder why it’s OK for the White Nationalist president to talk to Kim, but not the Black president?

National Enquiring minds want to know.

On Thursday, Costco announced it would raise the hourly wage for 130,000 of its American employees. CEO Richard Galanti, while discussing the company’s fiscal third-quarter earnings, said that starting wages for employees would be raised $1 an hour to $14.50 an hour while other hourly wages would be hiked 25 to 50 cents an hour.

Galanti added that the new wage increases would be probably be added to the company’s regular wage hikes. He acknowledged that the tax cuts would garner Costco an added $300 million each year.

The impetus for the wage hike was the windfall Costco received from the GOP tax cut; the company made $32.36 billion in sales and membership revenue in the twelve weeks ending May 13. That represented a 12.1% increase over the same period last year. Costco has enjoyed four straight quarters of double-digit sales growth.

Costco follows Target and Walmart, which earlier this year announced wage increases and new bonuses.

More leftist "humor".

Newly revealed blog posts from MSNBC host Joy Reid show that she once promoted a disgusting attack on Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter.

In a vicious post going after Ann Coulter titled, “Dear Mr. Coulter,” she ended the post by saying “And finally, here’s one hell of an idea.”

The “one hell of an idea” line is hyperlinked to another post from the blog “Brilliant at Breakfast” titled, “Can we send Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter to Iraq, put them in a public square and just leave them there?”

It’s not clear what exactly this blogger meant — it may have been a joke about the two women getting abused by Muslim men, a remark that could be seen as Islamophobic. It could have also been a joke about the two women living in a society that would oppress them. Whatever the implication is, it certainly wasn’t good for the two women mentioned in the post’s title.

Apart from that joke, Reid savaged Coulter in other ways. She said that Coulter had a “little Brownshirt heart,” calling her “Mr. Coulter.”

She also said about Coulter: “No one actually loves you — and particularly, no one loves you enough to actually breed with you (provided they could figure out whether you would, in fact, be supplying the sperm, or the egg…)”

Reid also that “no sane man or woman would touch without a full course of penicillin and a hermetic body glove” would want to touch her.

How funny can you be.

Majormajor said...

"destroying our financial system"

"our extremely high debt"

I want to thank the Black Guy for both of the above as well as all those "shovel ready jobs" (LOL) and his financial experts who told us Fanny Mae was in fine shape, that Trumps' tax cuts would only help the wealthy, that the GOVT while taking in record levels of revenue couldn't afford a tax cut. Yes I want to thank them for taking positions that have been shown to be totally wrong..

And of course by saying this I will be called a Nazi sympathizer and a racist.

Majormajor said...

If the great unemployment and wage numbers are the result of Obama’s hard work according to leftist and liberals, then WHY does Pelosi call them no big deal? Is she a closet racist?

Dave Dubya said...

”Just as I have had said he would Dave W plays the race card, it's all he's got.”

The “victim card” again.

Where’s the race card? It’s in the hands of the person hating the Black guy, ignoring his achievements, and giving all credit to Trump. David Duke would agree, would he not?

Still NO credit for the Black Guy lowering Black unemployment by EIGHT points! I wonder why?

Majormajor has a fellow true believer expressing the same sentiments:

“Thank you President Trump for your honesty & courage to tell the truth about #Charlottesville & condemn the leftist terrorists in BLM/Antifa...GOD BLESS DONALD TRUMP! It's time to do the right thing, it's time to TAKE AMERICA BACK!!!”

Yes, this is David Duke. Rejoicing in “taking America back” with Trump and Majormajor. What could go wrong?

Trump, David Duke and Majormajor are the voices of the new alt-Reich American Con-servatism.

They all sound the same, don’t they? Just don’t call them racists, amirite?

Dave W continues in his futile attempt to attack me with his lies but won't respond to the racism of Nancy Pelosi, the success of President Trump's policy's, and the failures of the Democrat Party.

Here's how bad it has gotten for the Democrats and their allies. Google was set to rent out its D.C. headquarters to a progressive group (Run for Something) holding a fundraiser for top Senate Democrats, but canceled it Friday just days before.

The group “Run For Something” cultivates up-and-coming Democrats for all levels of government. Its event, “Party For Something,” was supposed to occur June 6 at a location only disclosed if tickets ($100 to $1,000) were purchased.

Send us your money and we'll tell you where the party is later, just like we have to pass the bill to know what's in it. LOL

Can you imagine how bad things are for them when the best they can come up with is to name a group "Run for Something"? Run for anything cause we are flat out of ideas on how to MAGA except to promise to increase your taxes and Trump is a bad guy who is beating us at every turn. A party called a "Party For Something" like a party for what? Who knows but it's for something. "Up and coming" running for something, we don't know what that is is but it's something, jeeze, "so sad".

LOL! Did Majormajor just substitute Nancy Pelosi for Nation of Islam?

Has anyone seen where Majormajor “respond to the racism of Nancy Pelosi”? Has anyone even seen “the racism of Nancy Pelosi”?

No. Of course only cons have the authority to define words or make up stuff any time they want. It is the way of authoritarian personalites.

He’s deflecting to Pelosi to distract from HIS utter lack of response to racism.

All we get is crickets... and deflection..

The same way he responded to my simple question about why it’s OK for the Angry White president to talk to Kim, but was NOT OK for the Black president.

Majormajor’s been too busy echoing the words of David Duke’s effusive praising of Trump.

Come to think of it, even playing GOLF was not OK for the Black president, but OK for Trump.

I wonder why? This is why:

IOKIYAR. It’s OK If You Are Republican.

That’s it. Their ONLY rule, when you see how universally it is applied.

In the case of the Black president, we may find a deep steak of pure racism and hate mixed with that IOKIYAR.

I don’t know about Pelosi, but...

Majormajor continues in his futile attempt to attack me with his lies but won't respond to the racism of Trump.

Majormajor continues in his futile attempt to attack me with his lies but won't respond to the racism of Roseanne.

Poor MM. An orphan with dementia. That explains everything. Well, at least it shows he read the first two sentences of my previous comment. That was far as he got, I imagine. After that he was blinded with rage. Or MORE blinded with rage, I should say.

I wonder what he imagines I said about his mother? Was I mean and called her a racist? Can he show a “complete and accurate quote” of what I said about her?

I know nothing about the poor woman, apart from the fact her son has some serious anger issues and cognitive dissonance associated with White Nationalism. I feel sad for her, if nothing else. It wasn't her fault her son is a bigot, loyal to a pussy-grabbing racist liar.

No wonder he sees no racism in Trump and very fine people marching with Nazis, but only in Nancy Pelosi and those Black “sons of bitches” taking a knee, amirite?

Now we got the picture. Sad.

"It is amazing how if you support America becoming great again you are a loyal member of the 'Alt-Reich', and a 'supporter of neo-Nazis'." ~~ Majormajor (aka neo-Nazi Chuck?)

No, if you're still a Trumpist, which you are, and you still support him, and you still sympathize with him to "make America grate again", then there's a very high probability you're a racist and a neo-Nazi.

There can be no other rational way to explain it.

"You mean it's not collusion with Russia?" ~~ Majormajor (aka denying Chuck)

Nobody will know for sure until Mr. Mueller finishes his investigation, which I'm hoping you favor since I can only guess that down deep, you believe in the rule of law (i.e. the Constitution of the United States of America).

With already five admissions of guilt from Trump cronies and associates, and already 17 indictments, it seems as though Mr. Mueller is getting closer to the truth. Wouldn't you say?

Chuck, do you believe in, over everything else within our political embodiment, the rule of law?

I sure hope so.

Or could it be that's the way Commies and their supporters operate? When will the Drivel Duo deny their support for Communism?

In case you forgot in your continued hast to lie:

The unemployment rate for black workers hit new record lows in May, the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday.

Black unemployment fell sharply to 5.9 percent, beating out the 6.6 percent record low that was set a month earlier.

The unemployment rate for Hispanic workers hit a record low in April, at 4.8 percent, but it rose slightly to 4.9 percent in May.[…]

“They did treat him [Obama] differently than other Democrats and Republicans,” Mr. Clinton said in an interview on “CBS This Morning.” “It was the political press.”

And all this time we thought it as Russia.

In Barack Obama’s adopted hometown, of all places, his $375 million Obama Presidential Center is running into growing headwinds from a few gutsy souls.

Ironically, the winds aren’t gusting from the usual direction—Republicans and others the left often labels racist Obama-haters. Rather, it’s blowing from the very people who have long lionized Obama: white Chicago lakefront progressives, University of Chicago professors, environmentalists, African-American activists, and a community organization of the kind that once employed Obama as an organizer.

At the count of three 1..2..3.. RACISM!!!

This has nothing to do with anything. But that, I guess, is all I can expect from you. Nothing.

"are you so biased for liberals/leftist that only you believe only Conservatives could bring down the discourse?"

I am biased towards productive conversation. I have no problems getting that from T.Paine. I am not even sure you are a conservative. You just root for a team that claim to be conservative. I'm not sure you ever express an independent thought of your own.

What if those who mocked the idea that he would appoint judges from the list he provided during the campaign had been correct?

What if ISIS hadn't been crushed by the change in military tactics to destruction from dispersion?

What if North Korea hadn't just destroyed its Punggye-ri nuclear test site?
What if China hadn't just cut its tariffs on imported cars from 25% to 15%?

Was Majormajor offended when I said nothing negative about his mother? That would be quite a snowflake reaction, wouldn’t it? And then he said I’m an asshole for NOT insulting his mother. Poor wittow baby. Always the victim.

My mother has passed too, but I wouldn’t be a crybaby about someone testing my reading comprehension the way I did with him. He won’t discuss anything or recognize our points, so what did we have to lose?

I was testing to see if he was reading what I wrote. How else would we even know? So far he has indicated he read no further than the first two sentences, and then wigged out.

Majormajor is sooo sensitive for a rugged tough conservative, amirite?

Such a delicate little Angry White Conservative. Maybe he should go get his very fine people marching with Nazis to comfort him. They would be happy to join him in his hate for me, too.

I welcome their hatred. If Nazis and their sympathizers hate me, I wear it as a badge of honor.

Just like Steve Bannon told white racists to wear the term “racist” with pride, Majormajor may as well embrace the label too. He’s hardly convinced anyone he’s not a racist by his demeaning the Black guy and loyal support for the racist birther who denied the Black President was an American.

I mean, how “not racist” can a poor, angry, hateful white orphan be?

Sad. But he CAN take comfort knowing criminal racist, and fellow Trump lover, Dinesh D’Souza is pardoned, though.

Time to cheer up and bait some more liberals, I say.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

"And then he said I’m an asshole for NOT insulting his mother." ~~ Dave Dubya

This is what I'm confused about, Dave. Why did the mention of Chuck's mother become such a hot-button for him? There certainly wasn't any malice or offense intended.

You wrote: "I don’t expect Majormajor to read this. Unless he does, he may never know if I mention his mother in this topic. Could go either way, right?"

What caused him to go over the top and call you an "ass hole", and then later "an ass hole deluxe"?

I'm even more curious why he said he was "an orphan".

Jefferson's Guardian said...

And staying on topic...

What are the other unintended consequences [of making abortion illegal again]? What about the already overburdened legal systems around the country? How man cases will crowd the dockets of courthouses and fill the jails with defendants waiting for trial? What would it also do to our already overburdened prison systems? If Republicans succeed in criminalizing abortion in this country, what will the penalties be? How long would prison terms be and who would go to jail? The doctors who perform the abortions? The women who seek the abortions? Or is this something the Republicans want? More inmates for prisons. Because there are privately owned prisons in this country, like Corrections Corporation of America that supported the Arizona immigration law to put undocumented women and children into their prisons. Maybe Republicans see criminalizing abortion as a way to fill their prisons with women who sought an abortion or doctors who performed them. This could be another money-making opportunity for Republican donors. The U.S. is already Number 1 in the world for the percentage of it's population incarcerated. There's a record Republicans must want to hold on to.

An unintended consequence that both Mr. Paine and Chuck chastised me over many posts ago, was my mentioning that Roe v. Wade had effectively reduced the rate of violent crime in America starting about eighteen to twenty years after the supreme court decision in 1973. This is documented and, if I'm not incorrect, is still the case today -- twenty-plus years after.

Private prisons must be chomping at the bit. It'll be a "twofer" for them.

Assuming the world's not living through some dystopian future by then, I predict Ireland will see a great reduction in their own violent crime rates starting in about twenty years.

woodenman said...

Finally a comment that is not about Chuck! I was thinking this site should be named "What's Wrong With Chuck?"

Conservatives have three objectives when it comes to sex and procreation:

1) Completely eliminate all abortions even in the case of rape and incest. Deformities and terminal genetic conditions also should not be a reason for abortion.

2) Completely eliminate all contraception for men and women which would dramatically increase the amount of pregnancies per year.

3) Completely eliminate all state and federal programs for day care, health care and education and food subsidies. In other words, no support at all for mothers and children.

What would be the Republican plan for an extra five million unwanted kids be born every year? They certainly would not want to spend a nickel on massive orphanages all over the country. Maybe another tax cut for the wealthy would be the plan.

Dave Dubya said...

If conservatives had their way women and doctors would fill prisons.

If conservatives had their way there would still be rule by royalty, slavery, child labor, no public education, no unions, no independent journalism, and no Social Security, and no public health care.

No freedom. No justice. Theocracy and authoritarian dominance by wealthy white conservative men is their goal.

The real "enemy of the people" has spoken.

Our Orange Fuhrer has declared: "I have the absolute right to PARDON myself, but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong?"

Exactly how Hitler and Stalin saw it. They were above the law too.

Anyone who accepts this dictate and follows that authoritarian is no different than a Nazi. It is who they are.

Dave Dubya said...

”I have never endorsed racism or Nazis or White Supremacist or indicated I supported same.”

How admirable this would be, from most people.

How sincere could it be from one who has never endorsed the truth?

I have never “endorsed” Nation of Islam. Obama never endorsed Nation of Islam. A racist would certainly make such accusations. And Majormajor has also made these accusations.

Nor have I or Obama claimed “very fine people” march with NOI.

Majormajor really does endorse a racist authoritarian who said the Black president wasn’t an American. Majormajor really does endorse a racist authoritarian who claims to be above the law and that very fine people marched with Nazis.

This is exactly what Nazis and racists believe. This is the truth.

This endorsement tells us far more than what he claims he hasn’t endorsed.

He may, or may not, be a card carrying member, but this is what amounts to being a Nazi and racist sympathizer. This is not “name calling”. This is the truth.

Just don’t call him a racist. It makes him even more angry and hateful.

Again, I wonder why?

All I know is Colin Powell’s aid Colonel Wilkerson said there are a lot of racists in HIS Republican Party.

It is now the Party of Trump. As far as they endorse a racist who claims to above the law, they beg a comparison to fascists.

They are the enemies of democracy, freedom, justice, equality, the First Amendment’s free press, and the truth. They are the real enemies of the people.

This is the new American Con-servatism, folks.

And they hate anyone who understands this fact.

Majormajor said...

Jg, what you don't seem to get is your definitions of what is and isn't something is the problem.

You define President Trump as a "racist white supremacist demogague"(sp) and as I've said before, you then label anyone who supports his policy's as also being a "racist white supremacist sympathizer". You agree with me that is what your are doing.

I reject your definition of President Trump being a "racist white supremacist demogague(sp)" anymore than President Obama was a Black nationalist, black supremacist because he accepted the endorsement of the NOI.

Your claim of President Trump being a "racist white supremacist demogague "(sp) only reinforces my position that due to his economic and foreign policy successes the only thing liberals/leftist have left to play is the race card, which you just played.

As I've said many many times before I oppose legal abortion except in the case of rape or incest as long as the abortion is before the first 8 weeks and in the case of saving the life of the mother, anytime. I hold that each State should determine if abortion is legal in their State and if legal what, if any limits, should be applied. I do not support the Federal funding of abortion, however if the people of a State want to fund abortion with their State's tax dollars that is their business. But if given the chance I would vote against abortion and my tax dollars funding abortion.

As a matter of principle I find abortion immoral as it is the murder of a human while in it's mothers womb and therefore IF legal must be tightly regulated, as much as the death penalty is regulated.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

"You agree with me that is what your [sp] are doing." ~~Majormajor

Yes, if you're supportive of a racist, that definitely makes you a sympathizer.

Please explain why you disagree with this line of reasoning.

"...anymore than President Obama was a Black nationalist, black supremacist because he accepted the endorsement of the NOI." ~~ Majormajor

Sorry, this is false equivalency. Trump has been accused of racist behavior and actions -- not only in the distant past but also while on the campaign trail and even after assuming office. This never was the case with Obama.

Secondly, and I may be mistaken but I don't think I am, Obama never accepted the endorsement of the NOI.

Nonetheless, I'm not talking about Trump's endorsement by David Duke -- I'm purely keying on his racist and hateful behavior.

Chuck, it's for this reason, and this reason alone, I could never accept nor support Donald Trump -- even if he slashed military spending in half, brought unemployment down to zero, and won the war on poverty. Racism and intolerance of any kind is, and will always be, a deal-breaker with me.

Let's never forget that Adolph Hitler improved the German economy dramatically. But there was an immoral and black lining associated with all those improvements. As a nation we're not immune from going down that same dark road.

By the way, thank you for pointing out my spelling errors - Just as I know you appreciate it when I point out your own spelling and grammatical errors. ;-)

Anyway, since it appears you also disagree that Trump's a demagogue (look! Spelled correctly!). The definition of Demagogue: a political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument.

This is Donald Trump in a nutshell. Do you agree?

TB3 said...

This definition fits too:

A leader who makes use of popular prejudices and false claims and promises in order to gain power.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

Chuck, I respect your thoughtful synopsis regarding abortion. It's too bad you never took the time to articulate your thoughts and feelings in the past. You could have saved yourself a lot of grief.

Abortion, to me, is a very personal issue, and like any medical procedure should be left up to the woman after receiving her healthcare provider's advice.

Dave Dubya said...

I’m afraid I have to point out another falsehood from Majormajor....again.

I reject your definition of President Trump being a "racist white supremacist demogague(sp)" anymore than President Obama was a Black nationalist, black supremacist because he accepted the endorsement of the NOI.

WRONG!

Obama did not accept the endorsement of NOI.

From UPI:

Asked at the Democratic debate in Ohio about Farrakhan's endorsement, Obama said he’d "been very clear in my denunciation" of Farrakhan and his past statements.

"I did not solicit this support" Obama said.

After being pressed by Clinton, who said she unequivocally declined support from a group she described as anti-Semitic when she was running for New York senator, Obama rejected Farrakhan's support.

Clinton said Obama was not being direct enough, noting "there's a difference between denouncing and rejecting" a supporter's endorsement.

"And I made it very clear that I did not want their support, I rejected it," she said.

Obama responded, saying: "I'm happy to concede the point and I would reject and denounce."

Now that we’ve established the FACT Obama did not accept the endorsement of NOI, let’s look at FACTS about Trump.

He built a following of white nationalists, Klan member, neo-Nazis and other racists by insisting the Black President was not an American.

Trump was ordered twice by courts to rent to Blacks after he refused to do so.

Trump demanded the death penalty for exonerated Blacks in the Central Park case.

Trump called NFL athletes “sons of bitches” for protesting racist cops shooting unarmed Blacks.

Trump said “very fine people” were on “both sides”, including those who marched with chanting racist Nazis.

Majormajor supports Trump despite all the racism.

Every white nationalist and racist agree with Majormajor.

He agrees with Trump's racism, lies about the Black president, and then he whines that WE are playing the race card.

‘Nuff said.

Dave Dubya said...

Majormajor has the opinion that Trump has had “economic and foreign policy successes”.

Trump’s billionaire cronies were handed huge tax cuts. To pay for the trillion dollars more deficit he created, (economic success?) Medicare and Medicaid will cut health care for the elderly and poor, while children would see the Childrens’ Health Insurance Program slashed. Success? Really?

Let’s look at foreign policy.

Trump gave secrets to Russians in the Oval Office. That was Putin’s success.

Trump wants to help bail out a hostile Chinese telelcom. This is a Chinese success.

Trump’s stupid aluminum and steel tariffs on allies in the name of “national security” is a foreign policy failure triggering trade wars.

Here are others with more informed opinions than Majormajor’s parroting and shilling for Trump.

“Choosing a trade war is a mistaken prescription. The outcome will only be harmful. China would have to make a justified and necessary response.”
Wang Yi

“If you put tariffs against your allies, one wonders who the enemies are.”
Mario Draghi, President of the European Central Bank

CHRYSTIA FREELAND, CANADIAN FOREIGN MINISTER: “So, what you are saying to us and to all of your NATO allies is that we somehow represent a national security threat to the United States. And I would just say to all of Canada's American friends -- and there are so many -- seriously? Do you really believe that Canada, that your NATO allies represent a national security threat to you? And so I would just really say to our closest allies in the world, you, the United States, please think hard about the message you are sending to your closest allies. Canada, the largest exporter of steel and aluminum to the United States, said it would apply counter-tariffs of 25% and 10% on about $12.8 billion worth of American metals, farm goods and other products, to take effect July 1.”

“That Canada could be a national security threat to the U.S. is inconceivable,” said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, noting the many Canadians who have died alongside U.S. soldiers in joint military operations over the years. “These tariffs are an affront to the longstanding security partnership between Canada and the United States.”

“If the worst case scenario happens, we are read to take the U.S. to the WTO court, and we are discussing with other allies, other partners, to do it together.”
Jyrki Katainen, European Union vice president for jobs and competitiveness

Jacob Parker of the US-China Business Council, said there could be possible retaliation measures from China targetting US farmers.

"We have heard from the Chinese and from those who have spoken with them that soybeans, the largest US imports, are definitely one of the things that could be targeted in the future," he explained.

“This is protectionism, pure and simple,” said Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the EU Commission, which represents the 28-member states in the union. He said the U.S. “now leaves us with no choice” but to impose duties on American imports, although he did not specify the exact amount or timing of the retaliation.

Even some Republicans see Trumps’ stupidity:

“This is dumb,” said Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse, adding that similar protectionist measures contributed to the Great Depression in 1929.

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) said that he disagreed with the decision. "Instead of addressing the real problems in the international trade of these products, today's action targets America's allies when we should be working with them," he said

Any more of this kind of “winning” and even more Americans will suffer.

But thanks.

Because I disagree with your definition of President Trump as a racist, nutcase etc, does not make me the same as what you think the President is. Frankly, I am sick and tired of being labeled by you and to an almost pathological degree Dave W. as something you have no proof of other than I than I disagree with your assessment of President Trump. Do you really believe that if I or any other person who disagrees with you or Dave W on this subject, that automatically makes that person a worthy subject of derision and a supporter therefore of WS, Nazis and racism?

You have never met me, you know nothing of my personal life and experiences, where I was raised, how many siblings I have, how many children and grand kids I have, the history of my politics, my favorite music, my voting record, my education, my IQ, how my cancer treatment is coming along, or how I lost my parents. (Dave W will now say I'm playing the victim card or something just as stupid) You only know that I am NOW a Conservative and therefore a racist, Nazi or WS.

Honestly, that is just plan blind bias on the part of two you.

The subject of this thread is the Irish voting to make abortion legal, I've said all I have to say on that subject in my earlier statement. It's sad that human life has become so cheap.

"I have posted my position regarding abortion before, like I said many times." ~~ Majormajor

But never have you articulated it. I show more respect for those who substantiate their position rather than just yell that it's immoral or that it's murder. That's only subjective posturing.

"Because I disagree with your definition of President Trump as a racist, nutcase etc, does not make me the same as what you think the President is." ~~ Majormajor

First of all, I don't just think (or "believe") Trump is a racist. It has been proven that he is.

Secondly, and I will continue to stand by my position that any support for a known racist makes the one supporting the racist at the very least a racist sympathizer.

"I am sick and tired of being labeled by you and to an almost pathological degree Dave W. as something you have no proof of other than I than I disagree with your assessment of President Trump." ~~ Majormajor

I'll say it again, because obviously you're not understanding what I'm saying. Since Trump is a known racist and bigot, your supporting of him -- or anyone else supporting him -- makes you, at best, a sympathizer.

Now, agreed, unlike Donald Trump I cannot prove you're a racist. However, your unabashed support and endorsement of him literally defines you as a sympathizer.

"You have never met me, you know nothing of my personal life and experiences..." ~~ Majormajor

Agreed. And you don't know mine.

"...where I was raised, how many siblings I have, how many children and grand kids I have..." ~~ Majormajor

Agreed, and neither do you know how may siblings I have, or grandchildren -- or whether I have any at all.

"...the history of my politics, my favorite music, my voting record, my education, my IQ..." ~~ Majormajor

Check (although I know your current politics), check, check, check and check. And neither do you know mine.

"...how my cancer treatment is coming along, or how I lost my parents." ~~ Majormajor

No, I have no idea, other than you mentioned very recently that you're the victim of cancer -- but I don't know what type, or how long it has affected you.

I don't know how you lost your parents, other than you claim to be an orphan, and neither do you know how I lost my parents.

"You only know that I am NOW a Conservative and therefore a racist, Nazi or [white supremacist]"

No, being a conservative doesn't necessarily correlate to being either a racist, a neo-Nazi, or a white supremacist. Being a supporter and backer of a known racist and white supremacist, though, certainly doesn't support your dubious claim that you're not.

At the very least, you're a "racist sympathizer" -- which, once again, is due to your endorsement and support of a known racist.

"Honestly, that is just plan [sic] blind bias on the part of [the] two [of] you." ~~ Majormajor

A little projection goes a long way, but not in this case. As I've said for the umpteenth time, when you support and endorse a known racist, you, by default, become nothing less than a racist sympathizer.

"It's sad that human life has become so cheap." ~~ Majormajor

I agree, and so is it sad that the lives of protesting Palestinians are used as target practice by Israeli snipers, and unarmed black men are murdered by reckless trigger-happy cops, and refugee children are locked up in cages by U.S. immigration and border patrol officials, and the poor are deprived of basic necessities and healthcare, and...

Yes, the list goes on and on. Life is cheap when you're not wealthy and powerful. It is sad.

Your apology is accepted and I forgive you. No hard feelings.

”were their statements racist?”

Your question is valid, but only if you apply equal consideration for Trump’s statements. I would say they were stupid and racially insensitive, but far from the demeaning, hateful, condescension Trump has shown. Sort of like comparing Garrison Keillor to Bill Cosby on their behavior towards women. Different levels of degree entirely. And yes, Bill Clinton’s behavior with some women was deplorable. (How do you like that term now?)

Biden and Clinton didn’t claim Obama wasn’t an American. They never refused to rent to Blacks. They never called for the death penalty for exonerated Black defendants. They never called Black athletes protesting police brutality “sons of bitches”. How are their statements racist, especially when compared to Trumps?

You will get more respect, as with your statement on abortion, if you elaborate with a similarly thoughtful honest answer.

This is how discussion works, if we don’t sabotage with deflection and distraction.

This is also what Mr. Paine wants, if I’m not mistaken.

Dave,

"but only if you apply equal consideration for Trump’s statements" why that exception? Don't our words stand on their own? Weren't both comments make long before Trump was President? Shouldn't then they be viewed in the context of the day they were spoken, not in the context of today?

About that birther-ism, I think Trump was wrong in believing Obama was not an American citizen because regardless of where he was born his mother's citizenship guaranteed his American citizenship. So it as a moot point. President Trump has since taken back his position, which I hope you applaud as I do.
"Trump finally admits it: 'President Barack Obama was born in the United States"
September 16, 2016
CNN

One thing that has always puzzled me is Obama’s Literary Agent Said He Was Born in Kenya
A 1991 literary promotional booklet identified Barack Obama as having been born in Kenya.
"Barack Obama, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii. The son of an American anthropologist and a Kenyan finance minister, he attended Columbia University and worked as a financial journalist and editor for Business International Corporation. He served as project coordinator in Harlem for the New York Public Interest Research Group, and was Executive Director of the Developing Communities Project in Chicago’s South Side. His commitment to social and racial issues will be evident in his first book, Journeys in Black and White."

Why was this allowed to be published and why wasn't it corrected? It sure would have made birther-ism a lot less of a topic.

Further note on abortion, I don't know if you recall my stating that my wife and I acted as foster parents for new born babies whose mothers had decided not to abort but to allow adoption. Kind of walking the talk or something like that. Anyway, you may not remember what Mozart said about our being foster parents, but he claimed we were doing it only for the money! That really tainted for me what the pro choice people were saying and on the other hand believing.

As a decent person, I addressed your question. In an unsuccessful effort in pushing our luck for another honest answer, I noted:

“Your question is valid, but only if you apply equal consideration for Trump’s statements... This is how discussion works, if we don’t sabotage with deflection and distraction.”

Your response was another spattering of deflection by FOUR consecutive questions. LOL!

I suppose it would be asking too much for you to explain the difference and how it matters between the “context of the day” and “context of today”.

Welcome back to your Bubble!

The short deviation was fun while it lasted.

I think Trump was wrong in believing Obama was not an American

Impressive admission.

I shall return your barrage of deflecting questions with a few questions that relate to the discussion.

“Trump was wrong”.

I applaud you again, Majormajor. This is a first, indeed! Long ago I asked you if Trump ever lied, or was ever wrong. Nothing. My patience is at last rewarded. And I give you more credit than Trump. Unlike your leader, you actually apologized for a rude remark.

Perhaps when your eyes, ears and conscience open a bit more you’ll find one or two more instances where he lied or is wrong?

Unfortunately Trump built his fanatic “cult of personality” followers on that same racist birther lie. And most of them still believe Obama was not an American. Would you say this widespread false and racist belief, promoted for years by Trump, is making America great?

Let me understand this. You are hoping I applaud Trump for grudgingly and insincerely admitting Obama is an American? Less than a month before the election?

Now, when should we expect Trump’s apology to Obama? When will that small spark of basic decency emerge from his dark cloud of anger, hate, racism and narcissism?

Not that I’m accusing you, but even IF you are a white supremacist, you have still demonstrated more basic human decency than your leader.

For this I congratulate you.

"No wonder then that a recent poll found that 59 percent of Americans said Mueller has uncovered no crimes. In fact, he has secured 17 criminal indictments and obtained five guilty pleas. Accurate news reporting alone does not always carry the day.

The Russia scandal is the most important scandal in the history of the United States. President Andrew Johnson was impeached (but not convicted) because he violated an act of Congress to remove a secretary of war. In the Teapot Dome scandal, the secretary of the interior in Warren Harding’s administration leased federal lands at low rates to private oil companies, presumably in return for bribes. In Watergate, a president and his aides engaged in political skulduggery against political foes. President Bill Clinton lied about a sexual affair he had with a subordinate in the White House. All these scandals raised serious questions about integrity in government. But at the heart of the Russia scandal is the most fundamental issue for a democracy: the sanctity of elections.

An overseas enemy struck at the core of the republic—and it succeeded. Trump and his minions helped and encouraged this attack by engaging in secret contacts with Moscow and publicly insisting no such assault was happening. This is far bigger than a bribe, a break-in, or a blow job. And, worse, the United States remains vulnerable to such a strike.

Yet the full impact of this scandal does not resonate in the daily coverage and discourse. In many ways, the media presents the Russia scandal mostly as a political threat to Trump, not as a serious threat to the nation. And many Americans, thanks to Trump and his allies, view it as a charade. All this shows how easy it is for disinformation and demagoguery to distort reality. That is a tragedy for the United States. For Trump—and Putin—that is victory."

I wonder why?

Or maybe they are considering why it’s important to cut “wasteful” health care for poor children to grow the debt $1.5 trillion for tax cuts for the rich and corporations.

Maybe they are searching for a reason why denying health care coverage for people with pre-existing conditions is making America great.

Maybe they are beginning to wonder too?

"John Oliver on Sunday night tore into Fox News hosts for defending President Donald Trump at all costs and working to discredit special counsel Robert Mueller by dismissing his investigation as a 'witch hunt.'

The 'Last Week Tonight' host saved some of his sharpest barbs for Sean Hannity, at one point congratulating him for creating 'the shittiest conspiracy theory ever.'

Oliver also played a clip of Hannity boasting about his unwillingness to be swayed by new evidence.

'And by the way, if the media, if you have more proof that this is not a witch hunt, OK, I don’t believe you,' Hannity said.

That left Oliver stunned.

'Wow, think about that: Give me facts, and even if you do, I won’t believe them,' Oliver said. 'He’s basically bragging that he’s proof-proof, which is a superpower that no one should want to have.'
~~ HuffPost, 6/11/2018

LOLOL

The right is "proof-proof". That's priceless! LOL

The alternate reality of the right's alternate universe marches on. Don't forget...Hannity is Trump's primary advisor and confidante -- late night "sweet whisperings" over the phone, and all. ;-)

This is their campaign to discredit the Justice Department and shut down an active and productive investigation into Russian interference in our election. It amounts to treason, the deepest betrayal of our country. All in service to the Big Dotard.

Oliver examined Hannity’s and the Right’s tactics of defining terms, (covered by us here) whataboutism, (covered by us here)and counter-narrative. (Deflection, distraction, etc. also covered by us here)

Our conservative friends displayed all of these tactics as if they were instructed by Hannity himself.

"Maybe Paine and Chuck have given up defending treasonous republican policies!" ~~ woodenman1954

As previously mentioned, James, there's no defense for the indefensible.

First Paine dropped out because he couldn't stand lying in defense of Trump and his corrupt and deceitful administration. Then Chuck finally folds because, well, what else could he do? His alternative facts were always trumped by the truth.

"WE WON !!!" ~~ woodenman1954

No, James, there are no winners anymore. We're all losers to the corporate state and the authoritarianism of Trumpism.

It only goes downhill from here.

JG, I just read that the Republicans almost passed a bill that would decimate SS. They wanted to put aside the 2.7 Trillion SS reserve and use it for something else and only pay out what comes in each year in SS payments.

That would reduce SS checks by a large margin while the reserve go to what ever they want it to.

It is pretty amazing that they would openly steal trillions from the working class and expect to get away with it. It seems that the Republicans will crash the economy and create chaos like we have never seen before. So yeah, I was only kidding when I said we won.

Yes, of course, the PPPP.

Very reminiscent of the CCCP, only the fascist side of the coin.

I believe John Oliver and you have stumbled upon the acronym that Trumpism will eventually devolve into when all the safety nets are torn away, Social Security is shredded and minced into more palatable pieces for Wall Street to squander, and the only monstrosity left is an over-bloated military industrial security complex that will become apparent to everyone has been used against them for many many decades.

The corporate state took control a long time ago. Now with Trumpism at the helm, the mean and violent face of traditional totalitarianism will lead the descent and take us into very dark times.

"Lies", Dave how about letting your readers determine for themselves if they are lies?

Either you are afraid they might have their eyes/mind opened or you think your readers are not smart enough to make up their own minds. Which one is it Dave?

For those of you who wonder what Dave removed, he removed links showing this all started under Obama, proof that the photos you are being told were taken 2018 were instead taken in 2014/15, proof that the separation of families isn't as long as you have been lead to believe by the unbiased media exampled by a report that Rio Grande Valley border agents prosecuted 568 adults and separated 1,174 children since the administration announced its "zero tolerance" policy in early April. However, it only took a matter of hours to reunite more than a third of these children with their parents.

This hardly constitutes an inhumane policy of "ripping" children away from their parents.

Lies not so much, but you will have to take authoritarian Dave's word for it. Isn't it great having Dave make up your mind for you?

BTW the youtube link Dave deleted was a skit from Monty Python about championship hide and seek, inflammatory right wing I'm sure. But he published and thanked TB3 for his link, LOL. Some links are more equal than others.

Since doing so, he dumped several more loads of lies and youtube links crap.

Those dumps are now gone. And we know what that means.

He'll have to whine at another blog.

And he assuredly will.

I have a copy of the deleted posts. Does MM?

Verbatum from MM’s comment:

The Los Angeles Times reports that Rio Grande Valley border agents prosecuted 568 adults and separated 1,174 children since the administration announced its "zero tolerance" policy in early April. However, it only took a matter of hours to reunite more than a third of these children with their parents.

That hardly constitutes an inhumane policy of "ripping" children away from their parents.

The un-cited source of this quote is from an un-credited editorial from the conservative Investor’s Business Daily. The same source also linked the Lowry article MM copy and pasted in its entirety in my comment thread.

https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/separating-families-illegal-immigrants-trump-immigration-zero-tolerance-asylum/

The editorial was slanted in trying to downplay the extent of child separation. The reference to the LA Times was limited to the Rio Grande, and not the Arizona and California borders.

MM is not being honest again.
