Politics, Humor, and the Intersection of Both

Figured we could all use a laugh right about now.  Of course, some folks may not find a few of these as funny as the rest of us will.  Enjoy!

What can be funnier than Right Wing resentments?

The one with "Border Security", "Boom economy", "Better Trade Deals" and "Infrastructure" was hilarious.

They were all improved by Obama after the Bush Recession.

So funny!

I am concerned about the use of Alinsky tactics in many of these memes. I mean. Not really. I am sure the derision and ridicule and hyperbole used are merely demonstrations of how leftist tactics are being turned against them. Or something.

I did snort at the "hold my diet Coke" line, though.

"They were all improved by Obama after the Bush Recession." (Border security, economy, trade, infrastructure) ~ Mr. Dubya

Yeah, I really liked Obama's border security with his self-admitted unconstitutional amnesty executive branch actions and his gun-running to Mexico via the "fast and furious" operation. His economy grew at anemic rates for the entirety of his administration (less than any other administration for growth in history) and that happened in spite of his horrific domestic policies that caused greater red tape and taxation.

TB3, I appreciate the fact that you have always been civil. You debate your points strongly and effectively without resorting to Alinsky tactics. You, Woodenman, and a few others were the type of liberals I was hoping to build a following with over the years to discuss current events and politics. With that said, I certainly do not mean to ever intentionally offend or impugn your character accordingly. As for me taking the gloves off with others... well I am simply responding in kind. If they would converse in a civil and gentlemanly manner, then I would reciprocate that good will. Instead they would rather mock the idea of being "gentlemanly".

For the record, I thought the "hold my Diet Coke" one was truly funny and the best one of the lot.

Very interesting article, Majormajor. I found the following three paragraphs in the article particularly insightful.

"One fundamental difference between a free society and an oppressive society is that the former punishes bad behavior while the latter punishes the absence of good behavior. A free society, such as America, punishes theft. An oppressive society, such as the Soviet Union, punished the failure to work...

The religion of racism is less concerned with actual racists, than with racial unbelievers. The ultimate heresy, the one it’s rooting out with implicit bias and extreme prejudice, is that racism isn’t everywhere...

The left likes to believe that it’s a positive movement, defined by its utopian aspirations, not its brutal tactics. But it is a movement built on fear and hate, on a historical inevitability that is premised not on human progress, but on human collapse, on inescapable problems and necessarily ruthless solutions..."

"[Obama's] economy grew at anemic rates for the entirety of his administration (less than any other administration for growth in history)." ~~ T. Paine

Haven't looked at the data but assuming you're being truthful, you're also being disingenuous. Of course you know this, despite Dave Dubya repeating time and time again, Obama inherited the second worst economy in this nation's history. Handed off to him, as you know, a Republican.

I hope you understand why I go after you -- and particularly Chuck. You both attempt to deceive and lie, and when you're caught you both get your panties in a bind.

"TB3, I appreciate the fact that you have always been civil."~~ T.Paine

That's because he hasn't been exposed to your lies, and inflated opinions that you present as fact, as long as Dave and I have been.

Give him time. He's still learning.

"As for me taking the gloves off with others... well I am simply responding in kind. If they would converse in a civil and gentlemanly manner, then I would reciprocate that good will." ~~ T. Paine

I don't mind fist-fighting, Mr. Paine, I just don't respond well to obvious lying and misrepresentations -- which you're habitually guilty of presenting as facts.

"Instead they would rather mock the idea of being 'gentlemanly'." ~~ T. Paine

No, Mr. Paine, your president (and Majormajor) mocks the idea of "gentlemanly". Yet seemingly, you're okay with his (their) ungentlemanly behavior.

You know this is true.

Majormajor said...

Ah Jg, have you forgotten your comment to Dave that you purposely say things to upset? Have you forgotten your lies about me? Have you forgotten your mocking of Christians? Have you forgotten your mocking of the South? I haven't.

Now you act so innocent and above it all when the tables are turned and YOU and YOUR beliefs are mocked. Sorry but that dog won't hunt.

Since you refuse to debate honestly like Woodenman, TB3 and Rain don't expect me to ever treat what you post as anything but an opportunity to make fun of and mock. You more than have it coming.

If it's so bad here, go some where else. Maybe you could debate the Beatles on an other blog. Or you maybe try to kick start your own blog, or hang on Dave's and agree with everything he has to say.

You and your side kick Dave need to stop whining.

JG, yes indeed, Obama did inherit a horrible economy from Bush. It was a mess after 9/11, started to improve, and then Bush proceeded to act like a Democrat with his stimulus packages that didn't work. Obama came in and tried more of the same thus doubling our national debt with damned little to show for it for the country.

As for my "lies", I can only assume that anything that I say that doesn't fit with leftist dogma is considered a lie by you and Dave. I can live with that quite contently. Further, on particularly important points, I typically try to point out whether my commentary is my own opinion, that of others, or undeniable fact.

"I don't mind fist-fighting, Mr. Paine, I just don't respond well to obvious lying and misrepresentations -- which you're habitually guilty of presenting as facts." ~ JG

Luckily this isn't an actual fist fight, "sir". And the fact that you buy into every fringe left wing cause and conspiracy hardly makes me think you have any credibility whatsoever in determining fact from fiction, let alone when someone is lying to you.

For the record, a lie is when someone intentionally tells you something contrary to what they KNOW is actually the truth. (i.e. see Hillary and most of the Mueller investigative team as examples.) If I say something that I later find out to be PROVEN as wrong, I will admit to it and apologize accordingly. That is how I maintain my credibility and integrity.

"No, Mr. Paine, your president (and Majormajor) mocks the idea of "gentlemanly". Yet seemingly, you're okay with his (their) ungentlemanly behavior. You know this is true." ~ JG

I hate to tell you this, but as a fellow American, Donald Trump is also YOUR president, even though neither of the two of us voted for him. As for Majormajor, yes I admit that he has not always debated in a gentlemanly manner. I guess he decided to respond in kind to you and Dave long ago.

Chuck, it seems your schizophrenia and paranoia are getting the better of you again. It must be an Alt-Right malady. Your president obviously suffers from the same mental condition, which in turn causes undue stress for the rest of the nation.

I haven't mocked Christians, Chuck, only those who pretendingly glory in the virtuousness of the religion, while at the same time hypocritically acting against the teachings of its supposed Christ. As I already mentioned to Mr. Paine, I have a hard time dealing in a "gentlemanly" way with obvious liars. The same applies to hypocrites.

Do you think you fall into either of these categories?

As far as the historical south, yeah it's filled with ignorant rednecks -- but rednecks can be found anywhere, and are. The southern states have more than its share, that's for sure.

Did this offend you, Chuck. If so, too bad. If you're a redneck, stop being one.

Are you a redneck, Chuck?

Oh, by the way, you didn't mock me, Chuck, or even touch upon my beliefs. Even if you did mock my beliefs, though, I wouldn't mind. As your own Jesus said to do, I would just turn the other cheek. Do you recall that teaching, Chuck? I do. Maybe you ought to reread your gospels. Your Jesus had a lot of good things to say.

Chuck, you're such a soft target. That's what I love about you. ;-)

By the way, gasoline prices sure are high these days. Offsets any extra you're finding in your paycheck this year with Trump's "giveaway-to-the-wealthy" tax bill, doesn't it?

Oh, one other thing...how's that wall coming along? I'd suggest Trump build it around himself. Mueller's closing in.

I first became acquainted with Chuck Morre on Tom Degan's excellent blog a couple of years ago. (By the way, Chuck changed his moniker to "Majormajor" after Tom booted him off his blog for his incessant trolling behavior.)

Yes, Chuck is definitely the consummate troll. His constant off-topic and plagerised article dumps, his wailing and crying about abortion, and his inability to have a civilized and "gentlemanly" discussion with any of Tom's readers, was the beginning of this war of words.

Mr. Paine, you've commented on Tom's blog for quite awhile. Do you deny his behavior was the primary factor that caused Tom to resort to comment moderation?

Be honest.

Majormajor said...

"Chuck, you're such a soft target. That's what I love about you. ;-)" ~ JG

And that is what you really are all about, right JG? Its all about poking the bear, but then you have already admitted that this is what you are doing.

"Yet you still fail to concede he was handed the second worst economy in at least modern day history. Why is this?" ~ JG

Whine! Whaaa! Bush left our leftist messiah the second worst economy in history and our idiot boy had no idea how to fix it. Bush left him the second worst economy because he governed like a progressive with his domestic policies. Why do you fail to concede this point? It doesn't matter if he was labeled as a Republican. His pump-priming spending policies were pure FDR drivel.

"Luckily this isn't an actual fist fight, 'sir'." ~~ T.Paine

"Why, because I'd kick your ass, right?" ~ JG

Uh yeah. That's why -- sure. Pack a lunch and bring a friend to help, Skippy. ;)

"Hopefully I'll awake from this nightmare. This certainly can't be reality, can it?" ~ JG

Yeah, well some of our brothers and sisters on the fringe left have a hard time discerning reality. They think that their progressive agenda will bring about an utopian society. All it really does is double the national debt, enrich George Soros, and further divide the nation. THAT is the true nightmare created by far leftist policies. It is a reality they unfortunately still deny.

"Mr. Paine, you've commented on Tom's blog for quite awhile. Do you deny his behavior was the primary factor that caused Tom to resort to comment moderation? Be honest.

No, I don't deny that was Tom's stated reason for him going to comment moderation. Is that horribly different than you having been the cause for me having to enable comment moderation on my blog? Weren't you "trolling"? Be honest.

"Whine! Whaaa! Bush left our leftist messiah the second worst economy in history and our idiot boy had no idea how to fix it." - TP

I know I'm opening up a can of worms on this one but, using your own definition of leftist from your April 13th blogpost, how is President Obama a leftist?

"Bush left him the second worst economy because he governed like a progressive with his domestic policies."

Another can of worms; What exactly was progressive about Bush's domestic policies? Cause he ballooned the deficit? Sometimes reading these responses I feel like words, names, and labels no longer actually have meaning anymore. Obama's a leftist. Bush is a progressive.

"Why, because I'd kick your ass, right?" ~ JG
"Uh yeah. That's why -- sure. Pack a lunch and bring a friend to help, Skippy. ;)" - TP

Children, please.

"They think that their progressive agenda will bring about an utopian society." - TP

I doubt that. I am fairly certain this is only something you've heard "conservatives" say about the "Fringe Left".

"All it really does is double the national debt, enrich George Soros, and further divide the nation. THAT is the true nightmare created by far leftist policies"

The Soros boogeyman. The Progressive "agenda". And of course, the divide is caused by other people's actions. You just can't help but further add to that divide by reposting to your blog these divisive memes. How's that supposed to bring people together and lessen the polarization? It's 'cause of George Soros and the Progressive Agenda. Like Saul Alinsky, I only come across the Progressive Agenda and George Soros when I visit here and other "conservative" spaces on the internet.

Dave Dubya said...

It didn't take long for TP to exhibit more dishonesty and falsehood.

”his stimulus packages that didn't work.... you buy into every fringe left wing cause and conspiracy...”

That second lie is yet one more for the usual “unfounded accusation file”. This reflexive habit is an easily predictable behavior.

The first lie is willful ignorance or far Right political indoctrination. They go hand in hand.

That, or Moody’s are idiots, and desperately need to submit to Mr. Paine’s authority as an economics expert.

"Economists Agree: The Stimulus Worked"

https://www.economy.com/dismal/analysis/datapoints/249244

Now the question remains, will Mr. Paine change his opinion in light of more accurate information?

We ALL know the answer to this one.

LOL!! No way. He'd have to retract uncounted words of bile against Obama. Cons are never wrong, anyway.

All I know is the stimulus repaved my road. And the Children’s’ Health Insurance Program will be slashed for Trump’s tax cuts for himself and fellow billionaires. Just what Republican Jesus loves.

But Trump Christians love their Republican Jesus and trust their Orange Savior. There's no foolin' those clever cons.

Trump, our "stable genius", is the real victim and always tells it like it is. Liberals, leftists, journalists, educators, and scientists are the real liars. The press is "enemy of the people" and Pruitt is banning reporters. This is not a bug, but a feature of Trumpism. It is extremism and a threat to our democracy and First Amendment.

This is their indoctrination. Oh, and liberals/leftists are evil and hate America. Why? Because the radical Right say so, while it spews the lies and divisive hate. (They think we forgot how much they demonized the word "liberal". They've ALWAYS hated and blamed those different from them.)

TB3, I'm sorry my attempt at humor went over your head.

Just because "only come across the Progressive Agenda on conservative" sites, does not mean it is not real. Here's an example of this agenda.

Today’s journalists routinely assert that it is “extreme,” “dangerous,” and possibly even criminal for the White House – or anyone else, for that matter – to criticize an investigation into the President. But twenty years ago, Independent Counsel Ken Starr was savaged by the same liberal media during his investigation of then-President Bill Clinton. At that time, Starr was harangued as a “partisan” and “inept prosecutor,” and a “peeping Tom.”

Why the change? A conservative agenda in the journalist agenda of today?

Jefferson's Guardian said...

Thank you, Mr. Paine, for your honesty. I also noticed you couldn't help but inject the word "stated", before the word "reason", as if Tom had other motives for resorting to comment moderation.

"Is that horribly different than you having been the cause for me having to enable comment moderation on my blog? Weren't you 'trolling'?" ~~ T. Paine

No "sir", no more than you were trolling when you visited Tom's blog.

I haven't constantly distracted with off-topic and plagerised article dumps; haven't posted undocumented and unsourced articles or pieces of articles that weren't even remotely related to the posted writings of the author; and haven't refused to engage sincerely in debate through the answering of other's questions about positions and, again, the topic at-hand or that which transitioned from the topic at-hand.

Mr. Paine, I would tend to believe you feel the same way about your own participation at Tom Degan's blog. Am I correct in my assumption?

"Whine! Whaaa!" ~~ T.Paine

Nice! Very mature response, Mr. Paine. You're sounding more like your mentors, Donald Trump and Chuck Morre -- as in "poor lil' white privileged me!"

"Bush left our leftist messiah the second worst economy in history and our idiot boy had no idea how to fix it." ~~ T. Paine

The economy seemingly revived alright if you compare the numbers in January 2017 with those of January 2009.

Wouldn't you agree?

On a slightly different tangent, why did you not reply to my request for more information about your accusation that "most of the Mueller investigative team are examples" of untruths (lies)?

I'm sincerely interested in knowing whether you have some insight to this that I possibly missed.

TB3 said...

I am sorry. You do not make it easy to understand what you are attempting to convey when you comment.

Now, how is what you posted an example of an agenda. You are pointing out what you believe to be an inconsistency. Because you do not approve does not make an agenda. One could flip your example around. Republicans insisted that Ken Starr be allowed to continue. Now? Many of them have different opinions. Why the change?

Jefferson's Guardian said...

I wonder whether today's "peeping Tom" is Putin. He's supposedly the holder of the infamous "pee-pee tapes", isn't he? ;-)

Keep in mind, all Ken Starr could dredge up on Bill Clinton was a consensual affair between Clinton and Lewinsky -- which Clinton lied about. That's it.

Mueller is undoubtedly finding evidence of treason by the Trump crime family, but we'll have to wait and see.

Big difference, wouldn't you say?

TB3 said...

Doesn't matter, JG. MM's got me. He didn't say Republicans, he said journalists. So now rather than continue on this odd tangent that I followed him down, he is going to hammer down the point that I said Republicans. I sure do hate when my Alinsky tactics are used against me. Serves me right for thinking differently.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

"Doesn't matter, JG. MM's got me. He didn't say Republicans, he said journalists...I sure do hate when my Alinsky tactics are used against me. Serves me right for thinking differently." ~~ TB3

Yeah, that's our boy-wonder! he's the illusionist to none and the master of baiting. ;-)

Speaking of journalists...did you happen to see the interview of Leslie Stahl released last night? (I used RealClear Politics as my venue.) She had interviewed Trump at some previous point after he took the Republican nomination, and she was asking him why he continued to bash the media with the use of his "fake news" meme. Her words...I kid you not:

LESLEY STAHL: It's just me, my boss, and him -- he has a huge office -- and he's attacking the press. There were no cameras, there was nothing going on and I said, 'That is getting tired, why are you doing it? You're doing it over and over and it's boring. It's time to end that, you've won the nomination. And why do you keep hammering at this?'

And he said: 'You know why I do it? I do it to discredit you all and demean you all so when you write negative stories about me no one will believe you.'

So, put that in your head for a minute.

Of course it's very apparent he's using the same tactics to attack and attempt to discredit the FBI.

The knucklehead's cornered and he knows it. Expect to see anything happen in the next few weeks or months.

Hold on to your sanity...you've just entered the Twilight Zone.

TB3 said...

"Of course it's very apparent he's using the same tactics to attack and attempt to discredit the FBI"

The use of this tactic is so obvious, it's amazing that it is so effective. You'd think those who believe they are in the Law and Order party would be a little more suspect toward warrantless accusations. Like MM, our President just throws everything to the wall to see what sticks.

Dave Dubya said...

I agree, “The use of this tactic is so obvious, it's amazing that it is so effective.’

Purging and politicizing law enforcement isn't new.

Demonizing the press isn't new either.

History shows the Big Lie is a successful tactic. The far Right’s primary Big Lie is “liberal media” in their war on journalism. Journalism has always been seen as a threat to totalitarians and authoritarians.

The German Nazis used the term “Lügenpresse”, or lying press, in their campaign to destroy journalism. Now American fascists cry “liberal media” and “fake news” when the truth threatens their agenda.

Hitler was the "Law and order Fuhrer". This is merely code for dominance by the far Right, suppressing dissent, and punishing political opposition, of course.

These devoted authoritarian fanatics of the fascist Right have risen to frightening levels of influence in their war on our Constitution’s regulation of commerce and provision for the general welfare. They actively suppress voter rights, democracy, a free press, science, education, unions and minorities.

What needs to be emphasized is their goal is nothing less than a one-party corporate dictatorship with corporate prisons and corporate mercenaries, etc. This will not end well. Our corporate owned government is well on the way to rule by corporate police, courts and military, all tools of the Owners.

They are almost there. If democracy is not dead, it's in critical condition and on artificial life support.

"...using your own definition of leftist from your April 13th blogpost, how is President Obama a leftist?" ~ TB3

In my opinion, Obama meets that definition perfectly, sir. He had a progressive agenda and he did not care what means it took to get it passed, even to the point of violating the constitution and its checks and balances. I'll give you three big examples. One, he usurped congresses role in passing immigration legislation with his granting of amnesty, despite his own statements that he did not have the constitutional authority to do so. Two, he pushed through Obama-care insisting it was not a tax, and then having it defended for legality in front of SCOTUS as a tax. We won't even get into the "bribes" paid out of the federal treasury to certain members of the Senate to secure their votes on the deal. It was through this that they passed Obama-care without a single GOP vote. Three, he refused to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, which was duly passed and signed into law by Clinton. As chief executive, it is Obama's duty to ensure the enforcement of all constitutional laws. He refused to do so here, because in his second term, he flipped his opinion and no longer felt the need to protect traditional marriage. Any means necessary, constitutional or otherwise, to further his agenda makes him a leftist by that definition, sir.

"What exactly was progressive about Bush's domestic policies? Cause he ballooned the deficit?" ~TB3

Bush spent money like a Keynsian and did indeed further balloon our deficit in an attempt to jump start the economy. This is not conservative principle, and as we saw, it did not work. Further, he added an additional medicare entitlement and bureaucracy that we can ill-afford. Hell, one would think that based on Bush's domestic policies that many liberals would have been singing his praises.

"Why, because I'd kick your ass, right?" ~ JG
"Uh yeah. That's why -- sure. Pack a lunch and bring a friend to help, Skippy. ;)" - TP

"They think that their progressive agenda will bring about an utopian society." - TP
"I doubt that. I am fairly certain this is only something you've heard 'conservatives' say about the 'Fringe Left'." ~ TB3

Oh, that was perhaps just a bit tongue-in-cheek; however, there are plenty of leftists that think if they could only further their agenda to provide a better safety net, "free" nationalized health care, "free" education, hate speech laws that prohibit expressing traditional views and norms, open borders, reduction or dismantling of our military, destruction of our nuclear triad, etc. etc. etc. then we could be a "happy" nation that would rival or surpass those in Scandinavia.

"How's that supposed to bring people together and lessen the polarization? It's 'cause of George Soros and the Progressive Agenda. Like Saul Alinsky, I only come across the Progressive Agenda and George Soros when I visit here and other 'conservative' spaces on the internet." ~ TB3

I imagine this is true, TB3. Reaching out seems to be a fool's errand anymore. You and a few others are the exception and the main reason why I try to thoughtfully answer your questions and engage with you. The others are simply here to burn down Rome. My referring to Soros and Alinsky is not unlike militant leftists referring to fascists and white nationalists. You only find those things on far left sites. I do lament the fact that there are not more liberals like yourself that are open to discussion. Even if you and I never end up agreeing on some things, at least we can hopefully come to understand each other and realize each other wants what they think is best for our nation, all without having to dehumanize or lessen the other.

Mr. Paine.

Here's a great article from Investors Business Daily (https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/obama-behind-trump-investigation/)

Sorry, But Obama White House, Not Dossier, Was Behind Trump Investigation

"SpyGate: Did the Obama administration spy on the Donald Trump campaign because it feared Russian hacking of the 2016 election? Or was it merely a smokescreen to cover up the real reason: to keep Trump from winning the presidency or take him down if he did?

As the saying goes, timing is everything. Recent revelations keep pushing back the beginning of the CIA and FBI investigation into "Russian hacking" or "meddling" in the 2016 election further and further in time.

This is significant, since the farther back in time the actual origin of the spying on Trump, the less likely it is that it had anything to do with Russian involvement in the 2016 elections, but everything to do with stopping the surprising surge of Trump during the GOP primaries and beyond.

Increasingly, a political motive seems not only likely, but almost certain."

The rest of the article then supports the claim of it's title.

Your thoughts please.

Dave Dubya said...

Not only is Mr. Paine’s expertise on economics superior to Moody’s, he’s also an authority on Constitutional law.

Only a Supreme Authority may blame Obama for “violating the Constitution” for not enforcing the inherently bigoted Defense of Marriage Act, which was declared unconstitutional by a the lesser authority of the Supreme Court.

Only in the fevered mind of the radical Right is this rational. Hate finds a way to blame. Always.

And I’m loony enough to suggest Obama violated the Constitution by extra-judicial killings of Americans. But then again, I am not a Constitution authority like Mr. Paine.

As for, “You know why I do it? I do it to discredit you all and demean you all, so when you write negative stories about me no one will believe you.”

Journalist Tim O’Brien tweeted: “Worth noting the obvious: President Trump is using the same tactics against law enforcement, intel agencies, civil service and the judiciary that he deploys against the media — trying to discredit all of them so institutions that question or check his power are undermined.”

Just what we can expect from the real enemy of the people.

I would like it if Mr. Paine could cite, “hate speech laws that prohibit expressing traditional views and norms”. I suppose there is a tradition of Nazis and racism in the US and slavery too, and killing natives and stealing their land were all traditional views and norms.

But the greater evil is public education and public health care. Oh, the tyranny!

"Dancing Jersey Muslims on 9-11, Birtherism, Deep State, Spygate." Are there any Trump fantasies and conspiracy theories that authoritarian dupes won’t buy into?

Blaming the Black Guy is still a crowd pleaser down at the meetings, isn't it?

TB3 said...

You're working yourself like a pretzel to make President Obama meet your definition.

"One, he usurped congresses role in passing immigration legislation with his granting of amnesty, despite his own statements that he did not have the constitutional authority to do so."

He did not do this. The Obama Administration created a policy in which this certain group of people that met a certain criteria could apply every two years for deferrment from deportation. In no way did this usurp Congress's power because in no way did this prevent Congress from passing its own legislation overriding this policy. Which they always had the ability to do, but didn't. Because Congress did not check The Executive's Power, doesn't mean they couldn't. They chose not to. Checks and Balances only work when they are exerised.

"Two, he pushed through Obama-care insisting it was not a tax, and then having it defended for legality in front of SCOTUS as a tax."

Congress passed the ACA. This point does not back up your argument.

"Three, he refused to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, which was duly passed and signed into law by Clinton. As chief executive, it is Obama's duty to ensure the enforcement of all constitutional laws."

His administration enforced it, it just ceased to defend it in court. Then the Supreme Court struck down DOMA as Unconstitutional. It did this not because the Administration stopped defending it.

None of this makes Obama a leftist. These are just things you don't like or agree with.

"Leftists, as was reiterated by a member of that group to me lately, are inherently anti-constitutionalists. Therein lays the greatest difference between liberals and leftists. Liberals still tend to be staunch supporters of the rule of just law and especially the laws enshrined in the constitution. Leftists want to advance a progressive agenda and are less concerned with the trampling of a few laws or constitutional rights in doing so because to them the end justifies the means." - TP's definition of a Leftist.

What you provided as examples do not align with this.

"Bush spent money like a Keynsian and did indeed further balloon our deficit in an attempt to jump start the economy. This is not conservative principle, and as we saw, it did not work."

Economics is apolitical, Bush spending money on wars and on Medicare Part D does not make him a Progressive. Again. More of "there goes that clenched fist" from Dave W.

Mr Paine,

Did you see this latest bit of silliness from the left as they struggle to preserve their Black Messiah's legacy?

Holder Urges DOJ/FBI To Unconstitutionally Defy President: ‘Protect The Institutions’

Former Attorney General Eric Holder publicly urged his former employees at the Justice Department to defy President Trump’s request for transparency and public disclosures of information related to the unprecedented spy operation launched in 2016 against the Trump campaign.

More DOJ norms being eroded. Trump-a SUBJECT of the investigation-wants access to material related to the inquiry. His Congressional supporters want evidence connected to an ongoing investigation. Time for DOJ/FBI to simply say no-protect the institutions and time tested norms.
— Eric Holder (@EricHolder) May 21, 2018

Holder’s insistence that the DOJ and FBI “protect the institutions” rather than carry out their constitutional duties and protect the constitution, the document they actually swear to protect when entering their federal positions is telling and rather frightening.

If one ever searched for a “deep state” smoking gun it appears Holder has offered it up. Protect the “Institution” of the Justice Department at the expense of the US Constitution. Defy the President’s orders for the sake of the governmental apparatus. "

Let’s not forget to cut the Children’s Health Insurance Program to cover tax cuts for the rich. The legacy of Republican Jesus and “Trump Christians”.

Sick poor children don’t vote for Republicans though, so it’s all good, amirite, MM?

Does this Theoretical Clinton continually try to demean, belittle and delegitimize the very institutions we all rely on in an effort to save themselves? Man, I'd certainly be wondering why a seemingly innocent President Clinton was trying to burn down everything around themselves like that. We don't and won't have a President Clinton in the foreseeable future, so what a silly thing to wonder.

Wait... you referenced it, but I'm going to indulge in your Whataboutism unfortunately, do you even understand what happened with the Ken Starr investigation? Or is this question you just being obtuse? It was literally a situation where the desire was so strong to remove our President that it was thought ok to dig into anything he did before he was President as grounds to impeach him. That's how we went from an investigation about a Real Estate deal from the '70s to impeaching the President because he lied to people about having an extra-marital affair. Jeez. In 2018, This scenario is called 'Wednesday'. I wish we had an Investigation into our President's past Real Estate business dealings that lead to Impeachment proceedings over lying about Porn Stars, Playmates, and Russian Hookers. Than at least your Whataboutism would, at least, be a little more accurate.

Isn't this funny?

President Donald Trump was attending a roundtable discussion attended on how to deal illegal immigration and the violent MS-13 gang in Bethpage in Long Island, New York.

Trump met with family members of those killed by MS-13 as well as with police to discuss strategy and how to deal with the gang.

People in New York and most especially in Long Island know well the problems created by MS-13. They have been blamed for 25 killings on Long Island in the past eighteen months.

How screwed up are liberals? Some protested outside the meeting on how to stop MS-13.

What kind of crazy people protest victims’ parents and police trying to fight a deadly murderous transnational gang with “kill, rape and control” as their slogan?

Apparently, wanting to do something to stop MS-13 from preying on largely immigrant communities is ‘racist.’

"It is time to stop the pursuit of personal destruction and the prying into private lives and get on with our national life," President Bill Clinton once declared.

But switch on CNN or flip through the Washington Post and you will find the non-stop politics of personal destruction accompanied by Fortune 500 ads. Clinton supporters in the media aren’t just obsessed with Stormy Daniels or Russia conspiracy theories, but with destroying the lives of Trump supporters, from cabinet members to a random New York lawyer who once donated $500 to Trump.

Bill Clinton may have popularized the politics of personal destruction, but practicing its politics cost Hillary Clinton the ’16 election. Hillary’s message was that her opponent was a deplorable bigot who would move the White House to Moscow. Millions of Americans left behind by the crony socialism of the Obama economy and looking to change the change were not impressed with her hateful message.

And now the Democrats are making the same mistake all over again.

While the Republicans talked about the economy, the Democrats turned over their messaging to CNN, the Washington Post and the rest of the #resistance. While the media tethered its news cycle to Stormy Daniels and her lawyer, the economy boomed and tax cuts delivered. The Democrats went into spring with a solid advantage on the midterm ballot. Then the GOP broke even and has now taken the lead.

Also; What delusion do you live in that makes you think the people there that protested were protesting victims? You can go online, right now, and actually look up videos and news stories from this exact round table and hear the Protestors and the points they are making.

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-addresses-menace-ms-13-long-island-roundtable/story?id=55380008

MS-13 is an American-based gang that just happens to have many legal immigrants as members. The President's use of MS-13 in these roundtables is code. His language is pretty clear. He uses MS-13 interchangably with immigrants, legal or illegal, and that's unfair to the vast, vast, vast majority of the people that come here the right way.

BESIDES. If MS-13 is the real issue, it's a LAW AND ORDER problem. Not an immigration problem.

Thank you for dragging me down another tangent. I'm still disturbed you think this is funny.

Can I use the Wall Street Journal as a news source or is it also "alt-right"?

"Democrats and their media allies are again shouting “constitutional crisis,” this time claiming President Trump has waded too far into the Russia investigation. The howls are a diversion from the actual crisis: the Justice Department’s unprecedented contempt for duly elected representatives, and the lasting harm it is doing to law enforcement and to the department’s relationship with Congress.

The conceit of those claiming Mr. Trump has crossed some line in ordering the Justice Department to comply with oversight is that “investigators” are beyond question. We are meant to take them at their word that they did everything appropriately. Never mind that the revelations of warrants and spies and dirty dossiers and biased text messages already show otherwise.

We are told that Mr. Trump cannot be allowed to have any say over the Justice Department’s actions, since this might make him privy to sensitive details about an investigation into himself. We are also told that Congress—a separate branch of government, a primary duty of which is oversight—cannot be allowed to access Justice Department material. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes can’t be trusted to view classified information—something every intelligence chairman has done—since he might blow a source or method, or tip off the president.

That’s a political judgment, but it holds no authority. The Constitution set up Congress to act as a check on the executive branch—and it’s got more than enough cause to do some checking here. Yet the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation have spent a year disrespecting Congress—flouting subpoenas, ignoring requests, hiding witnesses, blacking out information, and leaking accusations."

One of my favorite books is "Radical Chic & Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers" by Thomas Wolfe. It was appropriate when it was written in 1970, and with the onset of "safe spaces, reparations, minority self segregation, and the BLM movement, even more so today.

Mr. Paine, Woodenman and Rain if you have not read this work by arguable the greatest American author since Mark Twain, I highly recommend you do so.

Dave Dubya said...

I’m delighted Majormajor has actually read a book, albeit it was a short one containing two essays.

As the more literate among us know, Tom Wolfe wrote that one. He also voted for George W. Bush because of his "great decisiveness and willingness to fight." Hitler’s “qualities” as well. Wolfe’s failure to discern the dishonesty and lies from Bush and Cheney proved to be the great flaw in his “new journalism”. He ultimately descended into such drivel like "The Rich Have Feelings, Too."

Boo hoo, rich snowflakes.

The man had his authoritarian streak. But he did write a couple good books about the “Right Stuff” and the “Electric Kool-aid Acid Test”.

Thomas Wolfe, on the other hand, is the acclaimed American Nobel AND Pulitzer Prize winner famous for the “Look Homeward Angel” series.

Now that this little confusion is cleared up, perhaps Majormajor can enlighten us with an explanation to the following:

Let’s try again:

Remember when Fox (R) HATED the idea of Obama talking to foreign dictators?

Now they LOVE Trump for offering to do it.

NOT OK for the Black Guy, but IOKIYAR??

What happened? Where is a good conservative to explain this to us?

Any good conservatives out there?

Anywhere? Anyone?

I'm beginning to think conservatives are AFRAID of the question. Is it because thinking for oneself is such a liberal quality, or none of their authoritarian leaders told them how to answer it? Or maybe it's "Trump Christians" love a sex criminal and liar as long as he's Republican?

I'll go with that for now, and leave racism out for this round.

Can't say they didn't have a chance to offer an answer.

Darrell Michaels said...

Majormajor, that was an excellent article and raises some great issues for which the Democrats have no answers. It won't matter though, because hate of Trump is a fanatical religion to some of our militant leftist friends. It is a religion based on faith with no real supporting evidence though.

No, DD.

Dave Dubya said...

TB3,
But of course. REAL, as in whatever conservatives SAY is "real". Same with "evidence". None is required for their accusations and blame, of course. Since only THEY get to define words, we are at their mercy again.

Trump's own words and actions are obviously not "real" in this case, I suppose.

Our "real evidence" indicates conservatives are afraid to answer a simple question. More blame is obviously called for.

Anywhere? Anyone?

Nope.

Nothing.

Nada.

Nichts.

For some reason, they are "REAL" quiet on that one.

For such tough guys, they flee the simplest question and... the truth. Time for "alternative facts", amirite?

The simple matter is why is it good for the White Guy and NOT the Black guy?

"because hate of Trump"? I hate to say it, but their unwillingness to engage this question COULD reflect their racism.

Like an open minded liberal, I'm open to any other answer they may offer, though.

So why do they cower from it?

How many chances should they get to clarify this conservative ideology that says it's OK for the White Guy and NOT OK for the Black Guy?

What is it they are so afraid of?

They melt like snowflakes before it.

This is what racism looks like. This is their position.

"Very fine people", indeed.

And another complete quote:

Remember when Fox (R) HATED the idea of Obama talking to foreign dictators?

Now they LOVE Trump for offering to do it.

NOT OK for the Black Guy, but IOKIYAR??

What happened? Where is a good conservative to explain this to us?

Any good conservatives out there?

Anywhere? Anyone?

Or would MM prefer to elaborate on "spygate"?

LOL!!!

"So now that we have Majormajor confirming he is a Nazi sympathizer, when will he answer my simple question?" ~~ Dave Dubya

This is something we've suspected all along, and after many months and many questions...finally Chuck admits where his sympathies lie.

I guess this is what Mr. Paine refers to as "gentlemanly" behavior.

There's none on this site, Dave. Besides us, there's only the sound of crickets.

Indeed, James, truly a match made in hell.

Perhaps they'll select Chuck Morre as their campaign strategist.

"'Even look at Roseanne, I called her yesterday. Look at her ratings! Look at her ratings! I got a call from Mark Burnett, he did The Apprentice. He’s a great guy. He said, Donald, I called just to say hello and to tell you did you see Roseanne's ratings? Trump said Thursday. 'I said, how big where they? They were unbelievable. Over 18 million people. And it was about us.'” ~~ Donald Trump, 3/29/2018, speaking to his supporters at, still, another campaign rally

Yes, indeed, Rosanne "was about us" -- Trump's deplorable base. Remarkably, for one brief moment, Donald Trump told the truth.

Conservative Doctrine of Flexible Reality:

Exhibit A:

‘We had no contact of any sort with Russia.”

“OK, there was contact, but not about the campaign.”

“Ok, there was contact about the campaign, but no collusion.”

“Well, look, nobody used the WORD collusion.”

"It was the Democrats who colluded!"

Trump addresses Roseanne’s “Ambien side effect” racism.

The “real victim” whines: “Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that “ABC does not tolerate comments like those” made by Roseanne Barr. Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the HORRIBLE statements made and said about me on ABC. Maybe I just didn’t get the call?”

Maybe Don Don has been hitting the Ambien hard and heavy, amirite?

Does Majormajor sleep well at night too?
