The myth or the man?

By golly, that's almost as good as the 1948 sound clip Thom Hartmann played on his radio show a few weeks back. In that one, Ronald Reagan did a 90-second promo for President Truman, Democrats in Congress and — get ready for it — America's unions, "that are working hard to keep our country strong and free." In it, Reagan called out Republicans for seeking to advance the interests of a wealthy, powerful few over those of the farmers, workers and small-business owners who are the real backbone of our country.

Funny, how Reagan was right when he was left and wrong when he went right wing.

Anderson, it is funny you mention that, sir.

I recall Reagan's journalistic nemesis, Sam Donaldson, once asking the president about how he never made a mistake in his own mind. He asked if Reagan had ever been wrong, to which Reagan replied, that yes, of course he had been wrong before because he was once a Democrat.
