The On-going Debate Between Lefty Larry and Average Joe American

There has always been a political divide in this nation, and frankly a robust truthful debate of ideas from all viewpoints is part of what makes this nation strong and vibrant.  Unfortunately, that divide has now become a yawning chasm that is seemingly impassable.  It would appear that those on the right and on the left have little use for each other.  It is somewhat scary as each side accuses the other of degrading democracy and freedom.  The fact is there is indeed some truth to be found in the accusations of both sides; however, the great ironic hypocrisy and often outright falsehoods seem to come more from the left.

Liberals and conservatives would often disagree on the methods of governing our nation, but our general goals and adherence to the principle of justice and the rule of law was the same.  Enter the militant leftists of the last twelve years.  Unlike classical liberals, the left wants to only tear down this racist, misogynistic, homophobic, xenophobic nation.  They see America as intrinsically flawed and unworthy of their love and support.  Yes, they do indeed hate America, and frankly, if I believed the lies they have been fed, I’d probably hate it too.

This is seen in the arguments between regular Joe Americans and Lefty Larrys.  My postings on this very blog for the past ten years have shown the ramped-up hostility, particularly from the left, as the haranguing and venom only intensifies.  It has become almost reflexive that if a conservative were to utter “black”, Lefty Larry will respond with “white” just to be contrary.  After all, if a conservative says something, it must automatically be wrong, ill-informed, racist, or just plain stupid – right?

Let’s give some examples of these classic exchanges, shall we?

Lefty Larry says, “The police are intrinsically racist throughout our nation.  They should, therefore, be defunded and the money reallocated to community social workers to de-escalate dangerous situations.”

Joe American responds, “How’s that working for you?  Crime is up well over 50% in many leftist cities such as Portland, Oregon and other leftist strongholds.  Ironically the leftist politicians that vote and advocate for this nonsense all hire their own security to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars.  I am looking at you, Cori Bush and AOC. (The latter of whom also has advocated for eliminating some prisons.  Guess she thinks everyone will just decide to behave in her socialist utopia otherwise they will get a visit from the social workers.)  Yep, the left hates the police… with the exception of those in the capitol that protected AOC’s and the other leftists’ dubious virtue.”

Lefty Larry whines, “Everyone should be required to get the Covid19 vaccination.  Those that don’t do so and refuse to wear masks are ignorant and don’t care about others.  Laws should be passed mandating those that want to travel or work with or for the government must be vaccinated.”

Joe American retorts, “So much for individual rights and freedom there, Larry.  By the way, if a person gets vaccinated, doesn’t that theoretically protect them from the unvaccinated?  In other words, if you've been jabbed, why are you worried about others not having been? Further, if one is already vaccinated, doesn’t that make irrelevant any ‘protection’ that the dubious mask hokey-pokey that the Fauciites insist upon on everyone wearing on odd numbered days? Is it really about safety or is more about political control at this point?”

Lefty Larry spews, “Russia interfered in the 2016 election and that is why Trump beat St. Hillary.”

Joe American calmly responds, “No, a bunch of Russian bots on Facebook did not sway the election to Trump’s favor.  The real interference was from the Democrats and Hillary when they funded the completely debunked and salacious Steele Dossier in order that it would gain traction with the public.”

Lefty Larry stomps his feet in false moral superiority, “Trump paid Stormy Daniels, a porn star, to keep quiet about their affair.”

Joe American says with a raised eyebrow, “I thought sex between consenting adults was nobody else’s business according to the Left.  How about credible claims of sexual contact with non-consenting adults by Democrat Presidents.  (Juanita Broaddrick and Tara Reade anyone?)  Oh yeah, I forgot, Tara Reade’s allegation were already litigated according to Psaki.  Reade just wasn’t present for that litigation evidently.”

Lefty Larry angrily exclaims, “The racist Republicans don’t want the poor migrants coming in over the Mexican border because they have ‘brown skin’ and they fear that white Americans will be replaced.  We care about all humanity and simply want to help the least of our brothers and sisters.”

Joe American laughs, “Spare me the Bible verse, Skippy, since most of you leftists find your god to be the state and not the Almighty.  And us Americans have no problem with people immigrating to America if they do so LEGALLY.  This is not about compassion for the Left.  This is about adding millions of reliable Democrat voters in the future.  Want proof?  How come Biden and the left won’t let the more conservative brown-skinned Cubans into America as they risk their lives to escape communism?  Is it because these Cubans know better than to vote for policies that turn America more like Cuba every day… for the common good, of course?”

Lefty Larry bellows, “And how about that ‘stable genius’ of Trump?  He was not mentally competent to be president.”

Joe American, while doubled over, “Can’t.  Stop.  Laughing.  Do ya’ll hear yourselves?  You supposedly elected a senile man with more votes than anyone in history, including Obama, and he cannot string more than five words together without them becoming unintelligible.  C’mon man!  You know… the thing.  Our adversaries are both amazed and amused at our stupidity in putting this dementia-addled corrupt leader of the Biden crime family into the oval office.”

Lefty Larry praisingly states, “Joe Biden is building back better our country and rescinding all of Trump’s horrible policies.  He is taking care of the poor and making our economy stronger.”

Joe American retorts, “Can you smell the bovine excrement, folks?  Biden in his first week in office made sure to undo some of the greatest things done for our economy.  Under Trump we became net exporters of energy for the first time in over five decades.  Senile Joe comes in and immediately cancels the XL pipeline and energy exploration/drilling on federal lands.  Gas and energy prices have sky-rocketed now, and are higher than the balls on a giraffe, which ironically hurts the poorest Americans the most.  His inflationary policies have also caused a huge spike in food and housing too.  Lumber is now a better investment than gold… almost.”

Lefty Larry snivels, “The Black Lives Matter and Antifa organizations are only trying to correct societal issues and racism.  Those of you who disagree, do so only because you are racists yourselves.”

Joe American shakes his head, “So is that why these punks tore down the statue of the elk in Portland?  Who knew that elk were racist!  I suppose burning black businesses, barricading police officers of all colors inside their police stations before setting them on fire, and shooting retired black police officer, David Dorn, as he tried to protect a pawn shop from looters is all just a part of the left’s social justice program… right?  Hell, a Utah BLM member stated that the American flag is a ‘symbol of hate’.  Yep, to the left, it probably is.  Even Mara Gay, who is a NY Times staffer and also an MSNBC analyst, said she was ‘disturbed’ by all of the American flags she saw when she was out on Long Island visiting a friend.  Here is an ‘unbiased’ member of the leftist media propagating the REAL big lie.”

Lefty Larry self-righteously proclaims, “Those of you that are against critical race theory being championed in our schools must be racists yourselves.”

Joe American snickers, “Nope.  We believe people should be treated according to the content of their character and not the color of their skin.  I know that is now ‘racist’ to you anti-racist leftists though; it is about equity rather than equality, right?  By all means we should teach American history, warts and all, to our children.  We should not overwhelmingly focus on ONLY those bad chapters which America has always worked to resolve justly over our history though.  CRT is the evolution of critical theory, which is a Marxist interpretation of the oppressed and oppressor.  CRT simply comes along and does it one better by saying that all people of color are the oppressed and that whites are the oppressors.  The bible and Lincoln both told us that a house divided against itself cannot stand, and yet the left through their racist anti-racism have set race relations in this nation back by many decades.  Hey, Lefty Larry, do you think maybe we should point out and decry real racism when it is found, but otherwise focus on those things that bring all of us together as Americans into this once great melting pot?  Nah, that would decrease leftist fundraising, amiright?”

Arguments between Leftists and the rest of the country are basically innumerable.  The funny thing is that I strongly suspect that the actual leftists are a distinct minority in this country.  They simply are very vocal and have the willing support of the leftist media doing their bidding.  The rest of America chooses to put up with the nonsense, but will eventually stand up more and more so as they get to their breaking point.  Already, regular Joes are beginning to push back against leftist nonsense.

Ultimately, I think the answer is to return to true scholarship and education rather than agenda-driven indoctrination that currently has overtaken our schools and universities.  Until that happens and we demand the truth in science, reading, history, civics, and other vital subjects is taught, we can only expect the snowflake glitter-brigades to become even more shrill in their histrionics as they seek to divide Americans. Hang on boys and girls!

Darrell and Rex,

This sounds like your kind of group. You have so much in common.

https://twitter.com/CultExpert/status/1423721464726003719

Steven Hassan is a renowned expert on cults & undue influence, mental health professional, author & teacher, specializing in recovery & strategic interventions.

Most of you probably know this, but I was in a cult. I was in the Moonies. The Moonies are lesser known today than they were in the 70's & 80's but did you know that the Moonies are STILL around? Know what they've made news for recently? Storming the Capitol on Jan. 6th.

Yes. The Moonies, as they've always been, are a far-right cult. When I was in the Moonies, I prayed & fasted for 72 hours on the Capitol steps to show my loyalty to Nixon during Watergate. Since the death of Moonie leader Sun Myung Moon in 2012, the group has splintered.

Different family members have created different offshoots. The youngest son of Moon, Hyung Jin "Sean" Moon is the leader of the World Peace and Unification Sanctuary, more commonly known as "Rod of Iron Ministries." Here's Sean Moon on Jan. 6th.

Sean Moon wears a crown of bullets and his "church" worships with AR-15's. He purchased a 40-acre compound in Texas to serve as a "sanctuary" for what he says will be a war with the "deep state."

"The internationalist Marxist globalists are trying to start a civil war here, so that they can bring in the U.N. troops and Chi-Com Chinese military to come in & destroy and kill all gun owners, Christians, and any opposition, i.e., Trump supporters."

But don't be confused. This sect of the Moonies, is in NO way fringe. They are actively interwoven into the power structure of the modern GOP. Steve Bannon has spoken at church events, as well as Pennsylvania state senator Doug Mastriano, who organized “Stop the Steal.”

Rod of Iron Ministries, along with the Proud Boys, the Oath Keepers & loose configurations of the 3 Percenters was VERY active in organizing for Jan. 6th. They deployed members for a string of large rallies to build momentum for the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Darrell,

Well, that was entertaining, if not informative. No definition of “leftist” was given, apart from some highly biased presentations framing the positions of said hypothetical “leftist”.

Once again, it requires more space to examine bumper sticker slogans and falsehoods than to utter them.

I wouldn’t agree with most of what this straw man leftist says.

“...the great ironic hypocrisy and often outright falsehoods seem to come more from the left.”

This requires verifiable evidence to rationally discuss. When a person believes Trump won the election, says it was stolen, then they bump into a wall of reality. They may be too numbed by Trump’s lies to feel the bump, though. The preponderance of evidence points to the truth. The popular and electoral votes tell us who won. The poll workers, the states, the courts, AG Bill Barr, the Justice Department, and Trump’s own director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Christopher Krebs say the election was fair. Krebs was fired for saying so.

Let’s be clear. The ONLY sources of information the radical Right accepts are from right wing, pro-Trump sources. Everything else is ignored or dismissed. Happens all the time. BLM, antifa, Critical Race Theory, etc. are reflexively attacked and dismissed with the all-too frequent “red card”, framed by the propagandists of the radical Right.

Yes, a BLM woman said she was “trained in Marxism”, but that certainly does not apply to more than a minute fraction of the number of protesters against police brutality. So what if she is. If Marxists are against police brutality, they are on the right side. Anarchists, street punks, and vandals are universally assigned membership to one or another of the hated groups. It’s the lazy way of looking at a widely diverse number of human beings.

Facts never seem to be a priority for the radical Right. Only assertions, accusations and beliefs seem necessary.

Of course the implied message is only Joe Conservatives are “real Americans”. This has always been the authoritarian stand.

We see you feel victimized by “ramped-up hostility and haranguing and venom”. That must sound a lot like, “The left hates America”, does it not?

But let’s separate facts from opinion, because this tirade reflects pure opinion in reaction to unwelcome facts. I’ve always invited anyone to offer verifiable evidence that disputes my points. None shown so far.

Your list of “classic exchanges” is also amusing. Please link to where we can find some of those. All I’ve seen of most of these are what you just wrote.

Let’s inject some facts and evidence into these exchanges, shall we?

Exchange 1:
Who is this Lefty Larry who claims “police are intrinsically racist”? Only racists are intrinsically racist. Some happen to be police. This is simply reality.

Did you know your fellow radical Right thugs are the reason AOC needs security? She’s one of the very few Democrats to invoke the self-defeating “defund the police” line. I happen to support eliminating private prisons. Unaccountable corporations have no Constitutional authority to enforce the law. See what AOC actually tweeted: https://twitter.com/aoc/status/1181207065072676864?lang=en

Exchange 2:
Joe American seems to share Marjorie Taylor-Greene’s delicate sense of victimization that compares masks to the Holocaust, “So much for individual rights and freedom there, Larry.” Now do “No shirt, no shoes, no service”. For the life of me I cannot see how wearing masks is being under “political control”. It’s a medical/scientific reality that masks reduce the spread of disease. Only the radical Right is politicizing it. Why do vaccinated people wear them? To protect the unvaccinated from transmission from a vaccinated person. It’s called compassion.

Students of law and history know the Supreme Court has decided more than once that vaccine mandates were Constitutional. Perhaps the radical Right doesn’t mind the return of smallpox and polio?

“When the Supreme Court Ruled a Vaccine Could Be Mandatory”

https://www.history.com/news/smallpox-vaccine-supreme-court

Exchange 3:
I agree the media was taken by their usual fervor for sensationalism with the Steele Dossier. Trump’s effusive praise of Putin didn’t exactly discount the possibility of the contents.

Of course, there is no way to quantify the effects of Russian social media disinformation. But they DID it. Also undeniable is the fact the Trump campaign welcomed help from Russians.
In the summer of 2017, government contractor Reality Winner exposed detailed evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 election. Reality Winner sent copies of classified U.S. Intelligence documents to the Intercept. The report they published was the first piece of concrete evidence shared with the public proving that the United States possessed tangible evidence that Russians hackers attacked American voting systems.
Exchange 4:
“Trump paid Stormy Daniels, a porn star, to keep quiet about their affair.” This is both factual AND ILLEGAL. Also factual are the dozens of women who reported criminal sexual conduct by Trump. Spare us the “law and order” hypocrisy.

Exchange 5:
Godly Joe dismisses the notion of others’ compassion for asylum seekers, preferring to embrace the radical Right “replacement theory”. After all, those “brown skinned” people are judged to be Democrats because of the color of their skin. Therefore they are unwelcome. This is precisely the racist radical Right Replacement Theory. Only brown Republicans should be allowed in. If we had immigration reform, many asylum seekers would not be declared “illegal”. But this is how the radical Right want it. They don’t want reform in policing or immigration.

Cubans? ”Want proof? How come Biden and the left won’t let the more conservative brown-skinned Cubans into America as they risk their lives to escape communism?”

That’s not proof. It’s an outright falsehood. Trump shut them out at the Mexican border along with the rest. Want real proof? How come Joe American is ignorant of this?

July 13 (Reuters) U.S. Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas on Monday told any migrants fleeing unrest in Cuba: "Let me be clear: If you take to the sea, you will not come to the United States." But Cuban migrants are largely flocking to the U.S.-Mexico land border, not the U.S. coast. And in a sharp break from his predecessor Donald Trump, President Joe Biden has been letting most in pending the outcome of their asylum applications, according to government data.”

Exchange 6:
Trump is no genius by any measure. Where are HIS grades? What kind of presidential candidate was ignorant of the “nuclear triad”? Trump. His ignorance was matched only by his emotional immaturity. Biden may not be a genius either, but he is at least better informed and far more honest. His stutter invites the hatred and ridicule of the radical Right.

Exchange 7:
The XL pipeline is Canadian oil. Energy imports declined throughout the Obama years.
https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=43395

(AP)
“Approvals for companies to drill for oil and gas on U.S. public lands are on pace this year to reach their highest level since George W. Bush was president, underscoring President Joe Biden's reluctance to more forcefully curb petroleum production in the face of industry and Republican resistance.

The Interior Department approved about 2,500 permits to drill on public and tribal lands in the first six months of the year, according to an Associated Press analysis of government data. That includes more than 2,100 drilling approvals since Biden took office January 20.

New Mexico and Wyoming had the largest number of approvals. Montana, Colorado and Utah had hundreds each.
Biden campaigned last year on pledges to end new drilling on federal lands to rein in climate-changing emissions. His pick to oversee those lands, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, adamantly opposed drilling on federal lands while in Congress and co-sponsored the liberal Green New Deal.
But the steps taken by the administration to date on fossil fuels are more modest, including a temporary suspension on new oil and gas leases on federal lands that a judge blocked last month, blocked petroleum sales in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) and cancellation of the Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada.

Because vast fossil fuel reserves already are under lease, those actions did nothing to slow drilling on public lands and waters that account for about a quarter of U.S. oil production.

Exchange 8:
Joe really hates BLM and antifa. He paints them all as commie thugs. Yes, there were some Black thugs and vandals. I admit antifa has an element as thuggish as white nationalists like the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, etc. A big difference is only the radical Right presented the dire threat to our Constitutional rule of law and peaceful transition of power.

How would Joe feel if someone said Trump’s insurrectionists represent all white Christian conservatives? Many of them see themselves as just that. Joe can’t see that huge beam of hypocrisy in his eye. Oops. Sorry for the Scriptural reference. That’s only allowed for conservative Christians like Joe American, or Trump and his mob of radical white Christian thugs.

” Hell, a Utah BLM member...” This is a perfect example. That paranoid person is NOT affiliated with BLM. Joe got it wrong again, but who cares, when it FEELS right, amirite? Obviously Joe didn’t read the evidence of this fact that I showed to Rex after he made the same false claim in the previous thread. But, hey, don’t let that stop the hate for BLM.

Joe goes on to demonize Mara Gay, another Black American, without knowing the context of that case either.

“New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay’s comments on MSNBC have been irresponsibly taken out of context. Her argument was that Trump and many of his supporters have politicized the American flag. The attacks on her today are ill-informed and grounded in bad-faith,” the publication wrote.

During an appearance on MSNBC Tuesday, Gay commented that she was “disturbed” to see “dozens of American flags” displayed behind the trucks of Donald Trump supporters during a weekend trip to Long Island, New York. Gay added during the interview that she was unsettled by profanities targeting President Biden spelled out on some of the trucks.

The newspaper’s response came after multiple outlets portrayed and slammed Gay rhetoric as seemingly anti-American.

“I was on Long Island this weekend visiting a really dear friend, and I was really disturbed. I saw, you know, dozens and dozens of pickup trucks with explicatives [sic] against Joe Biden on the back of them, Trump flags, and in some cases just dozens of American flags, which is also just disturbing … Essentially the message was clear: This is my country. This is not your country. I own this,” Gay said.

Could she be talking about “unbiased Joe American” here? He seems to think so, because he’s accusing her of “propagating the REAL big lie”. Joe can’t say what is actually false about it, though. All that matters is how he FEELS. This is what happens when your position is “ill-informed and grounded in bad-faith”.

Speaking of flags. Joe seems far more angry at those two Black Americans than at his fellow white Christian conservatives who used their flag poles to beat police officers in their attempt to overthrow our election. US flags. Christian flags, Trump flags, and yes, “Back-the-blue” flags. Is it Joe's view that this desecration isn’t so bad as what those Black Americans said? Seems so.

Points of agreement:

I do agree that the “lefty Larrys” of your presentation are a very small minority. I can’t say I personally know anyone that fits that shallow caricature: “The left wants to only tear down this racist, misogynistic, homophobic, xenophobic nation. They see America as intrinsically flawed and unworthy of their love and support. Yes, they do indeed hate America”.

“Already, regular Joes are beginning to push back against leftist nonsense” We saw that pushback on January 6. Nothing divisive about a coup, is there?

”...they seek to divide Americans” is the final projection.

Radical leftists are on the fringe and are too few to “divide the country”. They have no corporate media outlet and they have no corporate support, and no political power.

Today’s divisions were stoked by the Right, especially when FOX(R) and hate radio saturated the airwaves after Reagan eliminated the fairness doctrine in media. It became an industry of dishonest attacks on liberals and progress itself. Note how non-Right wing news media and journalists have gone from being accused of bias, then became the “liberal media”, then “fake news” and finally the “enemies of the people”. THAT is exactly how division works. This is “divide and conquer” in its essence. Trump’s hate, blame, lies, and insurrection clearly exemplify the fact he is the worst and most divisive leader in our history.

Joe doesn’t see anything divisive in Trump’s mob of white conservative Christian insurrectionists. As with the insurrection, Joe doesn’t see anything divisive in Trump’s attempt to have the Justice Department illegally interfere in the election:

Rosen: “understand that the DOJ can’t and won’t snap it’s fingers and change the outcome of the election…

Trump: “Just say that the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me and the R congressmen.”

Rosen: “ we are doing our job. much of the info you’re getting is false”

Trump: “people tell me Jeff Clark is great, I should put him in.” (Clark plotted with Trump to oust Rosen and take his job, vowing to overturn Georgia’s results. Rosen foiled him.)

“Joe American” would rather not discuss these realities. He’d prefer to spread disinformation about people who disagree with him, and falsely accuse and blame them for all the nation’s problems. This scapegoating gives him his justification to resent and hate them even further. It is also the essence of fascism and the radical white nationalism we see in Trump Brownshirts who call themselves Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, 3%ers, and other “Joe Americans”.

I agree that we should “demand the truth in science, reading, history, civics, and other vital subjects”. Joe’s problem is he wants that teaching to conform to his far Right ideology. Otherwise, “Fake news! Fake history”. Don’t let Blacks teach the history of slavery and racism, when only white conservatives should have the authority to do so. In fact they don’t want it taught at all.

“Joe American”. Disagree with Joe, and you “hate America”. Now THAT is as divisive as all get out. How’s that for “great ironic hypocrisy”?

They died so they could be free...

https://www.news4jax.com/news/local/2021/08/06/in-10-days-6-members-of-jacksonville-church-die-from-covid-19-pastor-says/

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville church pastor said in the last 10 days, six of his church members have died from COVID-19, and more of their members are currently in the hospital.

Now the church is pushing to get as many people vaccinated as possible.

Senior Pastor George Davis at Impact Church in Arlington told News4Jax on Friday his phone hasn’t stopped ringing in the last week.

“In the last 10 days, we have had six members of our church who passed away from COVID. Four of them were under the age of 35. All of them were healthy, and the only thing they had in common was they were not vaccinated,” he said.

He says 15 to 20 members are now in the hospital, another 10 or so are at home with the virus and three to five vaccinated members also tested positive.

Joe American retorts, “So much for individual rights and freedom there, Larry... Is it really about safety or is more about political control at this point?”

"Freedom Joe" gets it. He's no fool. He's tired of being an oppressed victim.

And if you disagree with "Pro-Life Joe", he'll say you hate freedom, and America.

Former Newsmax host and right-wing Florida radio commentator Dick Farrel — who mocked vaccines, the “scamdemic” and “lying freak” Dr. Anthony Fauci — has died of COVID-19.
A very different Farrel, 65, told friends to get vaccinated, as he struggled with the virus. He died Wednesday.

Died for freedom? Or for ignorant right-wing partisan resentment? Joe American knows better, of course.

Joe American: Trump was the greatest president. I never liked him but I trust him. Biden stole the election. He hid in his basement and didn't have rallies. Trump really won.

Lefty Larry: But Trump never saw a 50% approval rating and was behind Biden in every pre-election poll. He was never a popular president. And for good reasons. He lied to us every day.

"If you say it enough and keep saying it, they'll start to believe you." Trump, July 3, 2021

"I play to people's fantasies," he wrote in "The Art of the Deal." "People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular. I call it truthful hyperbole."

"Truthful hyperbole" is a contradiction. There's no such thing as "truthful hyperbole".

Maybe you believe in "honest lies"?

Poll workers, popular votes, electoral votes, state certification boards, state courts, AG Bill Barr, the Justice Department, Homeland Security, and the Supreme Court found no verifiable evidence of massive voter fraud or election tampering. None of Trump's lawyers would swear on oath that the election was stolen. Rudy's law license was suspended for blatant and chronic lies.

Trump's "stop the steal" coup and attempts to strong-arm Georgia's Secretary of State (What you're doing is criminal.) and the Justice Department (Just say the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me and the R congressmen.) appear to be the real attempts to steal the election.

What if Trump is incapable of admitting the truth, that he was defeated?

"If you admit defeat, then you will be defeated," Trump wrote in "Think Big."

So, Joe, would you kindly show me your verifiable evidence that Trump won, and the election was stolen?

Joe?

Joe?

Has anybody seen Joe American? Is he OK?

Only pro-Trump propaganda outlets continue to support Trump's Big Lie. Biden won fair and square. Lefty showed us why that is the case. You have not shown us how Trump won.

And that's the truth, brother.

In fact, most of us moderates voted for Biden, because we see Biden is more moderate than Trump.

A Pew polls shows, “Among independents and those who affiliated with other parties, Biden led Trump by 52%-43%.”

"...One of the most persistent fake narratives is the claim that “liberals hate America”. It’s been repeated so long in the right-wing alternate universe that its veracity is inviolably enshrined. If you have right-wing relatives, chances are you’d find it a real challenge to have an actual discussion with them about any current issue, because for them, it inevitably and immediately leads back to their go-to axiom that “you liberals just hate America”.

... When President Obama was in office, you repeatedly heard that he had taken/ was taking/ was planning to take an “apology tour” abroad. Never mind that he never once apologized for America in his travels. The apology tour was just one of the unshakeable right-wing core convictions, like the tenet that more guns make you safer.

And there you have the essence of MAGA insanity: being absolutely certain of things that have zero evidence to support them, and absolutely reject facts that are irrefutably true. Or, as someone put it, they believe that if vaccines are only 99 percent effective, that means they don’t work; and at the same time, they believe that Former Guy, who won zero percent of his election lawsuits, is still president.

Alternate reality is the default mode of right-wing extremism, and right-wing extremism is the default mode of public discourse. Don’t expect it to get any better anytime soon."

But, but, more guns make people safer. Leftists DO hate America! And Trump DID win!!

Yup.

Jerry, I acknowledge quite often that the right has many faults and Trump especially does. Indeed, I even said in this very post, "The fact is there is indeed some truth to be found in the accusations of both sides..."

I cannot imagine most left-wing sites even giving that much credit to the right.

And, as you noted, this is a blog written from a conservative world view point. I think I do a pretty darn good job of acknowledging when the right is being hypocritical or unconstitutional and so forth. They are not the topics of my posts, but I have often excoriated McConnell, Trump, and the Republican leadership for their failures. If only some of our friends on the left could even begin to acknowledge the same from their side of the political fence, sir.

Another fact they can't grasp is wearing masks inhibit transmission of disease. Personal protection is the secondary purpose.

How's that workin' out in Florida and Texas?

The Radical Right are covid enablers. See above and numerous other examples for proof.

Joe American would never learn this from his radical Right sources of misinformation. "So what? fake news anyway!"

After relentlessly attacking President Biden and downplaying the COVID threat in Florida, Ron DeSantis is now requesting 300 ventilators from President Biden.

Thank you, radical Right, for paying the "cost of freedom" in defending "liberty".

You have always been honest, truthful and wise, in the Right way, the far Right way, and the extreme radical Right way.

We thank you. And COVID thanks you even more.

"Burn those masks! Refuse the vax! Freedom! Liberty! God will protect us cuz we're his favorites! Fauci hates America!"

Darrell,
"however, the great ironic hypocrisy and often outright falsehoods seem to come more from the left."
This is the attitude I was referring to. Having read your posts for a few months now, that blame the left attitude is pervasive throughout your writings. I have commented on your posts, so you know where I stand. To make mere mention of the Republican stances you disagree with holds no candle to your constant blaming of the Democrats for every ill of America; and it lacks the history of each party; and yes, it shows your brick wall conservative philosophy.
I actually agree with a lot of your thinking, but like the lefties you go beyond rational thought and you fit facts only when they support your conclusions and ignore facts that give a more true picture of the issues.
I have told Dave before that I disagree with his using Hitler and other name calling constantly. His outrageous number of comments on your blog shows an obsession. An unhealthy obsession.
I hope both of you can moderate your positions and accept that all of us need to live with each other with all of our differences. I would hope that message would get to our elected representatives, but they are as entrenched in the verbiage of hate as you and Dave. So what good is that for our country? Nothing at all.

Jerry,
When you're right, you're right.

I'm guilty of having an obsession. I'm argumentative, sarcastic, and prone to satirical rhetoric.

However, my extensive rebuttal to Darrell's radical Right scapegoating, accusations and blame is defensive in nature. He's been engaging in the radical Right's decades-long propaganda war on Democrats and progressives.

Fair discourse and rational debate are futile with zealots. I've been blocked on Twitter by both the radical Right and Left. It seems commies hate me too. They all need to be challenged. They are not defenders of voter rights, democratic representation, and fair elections.

Someone has to defend these fundamental American and Constitutional values.

But I make an effort to convey evidence, facts and realities that the radical Right doesn't see, and even refuses to consider. You see me requesting evidence to support their accusations and blaming.

And you've seen what happens instead. They take it personally. You can't show me where I've called Darrell a Nazi, or even a racist. I HAVE shown areas where they find agreement, especially towards those who espouse democracy and equality, aka the "wicked commie/leftist/socialists who hate America".

More than once I've told Darrell I think he's a good guy, but deluded by the lies of bad people. I do not hate him. But I do mock his radicalized hate, his lies, and his misplaced anger. I don't really hate anyone, but if I did, it would be for the greedy, power-mad liars who indoctrinate Americans with false beliefs to advance their self-serving agenda.

One cannot compromise with the Trumpists Big Lie. There's no middle ground on that. Biden won. Trump lost. The liars MUST be held accountable or the republic is dead.

They are at war with out democratic republic. They seek minority rule by authoritarian leaders. Their agenda is not popular, so they must undermine voter rights and elections. They demonize dissent from their radical right agenda.

But I get it from the radical Left, too.

I was called a fascist on Twitter by a commie just before he blocked me.

If the radical Right and the radical Left are angry at me, then either I'm in the moderate and reasonable place on the political spectrum, or I'm just a cantankerous SOB.

...Or a little of both. ;-)

I truly appreciate your comments, Jerry. I really mean that. I do indeed criticize the left almost incessantly. As I said, I have great respect for liberals that often and ultimately want the same things that conservatives do, albeit their methods of reaching those goals usually entail greater government involvement. Liberals still respect the rule of law and our constitution.

I am sorry, but LEFTISTS are not liberals. Furthermore, the Democrat Party has too often succumbed to Leftist ideologies. They have no such qualms about the ends justifying often extra- or unconstitutional means to get there. Leftists do not like nor respect America and wish to fundamentally transform it into a nation based on models that have never worked throughout history and have always ended with bad or even dangerous results.

That said, I will try very hard to keep your comments in mind in future writings so that any criticisms I a make of leftists are equally made of conservatives when they are similarly guilty of the topic of discussion.

As for our friend, Mr. Dubya, he is indeed obsessed to the point of being beyond reason often times. That is why I seldom even bother responding to his comments. It serves no purpose as he never reflects on the possibility that he may indeed be wrong. (as he often is.) :)

Yes, I admit I have been wrong. But I always welcome information and evidence that I have missed.

I just can't depend on Darrell for said information and evidence. ;-) I'm sure I've shown him a few facts he has accepted, and probably many more that he rejects, for reasons usually not explained.

Darrell and I have a long history of exchanges from opposite sides of issues. I don't think Darrell and I have any malevolent feelings for one another personally. I certainly don't. I value his rebuttals and perspective. Over the years he has helped me follow the Rightward shift of American conservatism.

If we didn't talk politics, I'm sure Darrell and I would get along admirably, over a taste of Wild Turkey on the banks of a cold trout stream.

Politics shouldn't be everything.

Ahhh... Indeed, something I can drink to, Mr. Dubya!

As I read the article, I fully intended to brutalize Joe American, but ignorant hillbilly that he is, he left himself so exposed that even Hurricane Dave made light work of the task in his first rebuttal. Of course, Dave could not stop there, and decided to lose his mind with a signature rant, lest he disappoint his fans.

As for LL, I will not defend this character, as I am loathe to offend the conservatives who made him up as their quintessential leftist.

The demon on my shoulder is begging me to make up Righty the Cave Thinker in response, but I keep telling him how hard that is in the current political climate of stolen elections (Cruz stealing Iowa, and …when it looked like Hillary Clinton would win, he said the election was rigged. When Biden beat him, rigged). Covid is not a threat, but a political ploy, because impeachment didn't work. Biden wears the biggest mask you have ever seen. O' God, help help, air lift me to the doctor, I have the fake politicized virus that the vaccine is going to make go away as if it never happened, and that will be gone by April, and that is really like the flu, and that is really not here in the first place.

Go nearly a year without approving a liberal Supreme Court nominee, because The People have a right to choose, one year from now. Confirm a conservative nominee, now, within a couple of months, because the people do not have a right to choose in two months.

Republican in office, let's raise the debt ceiling. Dem in office, let's default on our debt. Republican in office. Let's raise the debt ceiling. Dem in office, let's default.

How do you parody that? Any satire I could devise would pale in comparison to the real thing.

By the way, Darrell, I want to make very clear that I when I use terms like "ignorant hillbilly" or "made up quintessential leftist," I am NOT at all referencing anything Darrell. I have the utmost respect for you.

My squabble is only with the two fictitious characters that would fall within the absurdist genre of literature if I had to categorize them. Those poor bastards are low hanging fruit.

I had a very long response that got lost in Google space, so on with your diatribes.

UnTrump, thank you for your humorous comments!

For the record, I agree with a few of your points. Garland should have been given an up or down vote under the Obama administration, just as Barret was. Covid is absolutely real; however, if one looks at the objective data, one has to conclude that this is being blown way out of proportion with the measures taken to mitigate it often times. One would think we were dealing with the bubonic plague. Reasonable people can only assume that the severe measures taken against a virus with such a low mortality rate must therefore have other reasons behind them.

As for the debt ceiling issue and government spending, damn straight you are right that the Republicans are hypocrites and idiots.

As for Lefty Larry, he is indeed the quintessential leftist; however, he was not made up from my imagination. All of the arguments LL makes are things I have read or seen in either the media or even comments made on my very own blog by various lefties.

Regardless, I appreciate your humorous and relatively accurate commentary.

Jerry, I am sorry that your comment got lost. I may not always agree with everything you write; however, I can almost always appreciate your logic and train of thought in how you arrive at a conclusion. I'd be curious to hear the gist of it, if you care to try it again, sir.

I HATE when I lose a comment in the ether before posting, especially when I spent a fair amount of effort on it. I feel your pain, bro!
