30 Days at Sea Timelapsed

I wished to finish this week off on a good note with something other than politics.

That said, I ran across this video which I thought was rather fascinating.  It is a compilation of over 80,000 time-lapsed photos taken over the course of 30 days that shows a cargo ship's traveling from Sri Lanka to Singapore to Hong Kong and the oceans it crosses in between.

I particularly enjoyed the scenes of the sky at night way out on the open ocean away from all land and lights that pollute the night sky.  There is nothing more spectacular than seeing the milky way out on a ship thousands of miles from anywhere.  It truly does make one feel like such an infinitesimally small part in God's amazingly beautiful tapestry of creation as you see the night sky with the myriad stars He breathed into being while feeling the ever-so-gentle rocking of the ship as it momentarily parts the ocean waves to allow one to traverse across its vastness.  It truly is an experience like no other.

If you ever have the opportunity to travel on the open ocean on a ship, I would highly recommend that you take advantage of it at least one time in your life.  And DO sit out on the deck at night and look up at the sky.  You will be changed at least a little bit by having done so!

Thank you for this.

My One and Only and I recently returned from a cruise vacation. We spent a lot of time out on the deck at night staring at the night sky, away from the light pollution of civilization (still dealt with light from the ship), it was absolutely incredible.

And those docks in the video? It's always amazing seeing that in action. I haven't seen it timelapsed before!

Pretty cool, huh? Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did, TB3.

I am glad that you and your honey got to see what I was talking about regarding the night sky from a ship too. I know the lights of a cruise ship were probably a nuisance though. Still, I am sure it was amazing!

By the way, where did you go on your cruise?

It was terrific. We ventured down to the Bahamas. A beautiful place with very accommodating and friendly people. If you've never had the pleasure of visiting, I can't recommend it enough.

Sounds wonderful, TB3. It is on my bucket list. My wife and I did have the pleasure last march of taking a cruise to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Grand Turk. All of them were beautiful and it truly rends my heart to think of the devastation caused to the people and their beautiful islands there.

Needless to say, the accommodations of a cruise ship were just a little bit better than aboard naval vessels. :)

I also hope to cruise to Alaska and then eventually travel around Denali in the future.

Our itinerary originally included Grand Turk, which we have visited before as well. Unfortunately, we were unable to enjoy their beautiful beaches and provide them with our meager patronage this time around due to the hurricanes. I hope to get back there one day.

And, similarly, my bucket list includes an Alaskan Cruise as well.

And, wait, what? The accomodations were better than a naval ship? Come on, you're telling me all those millions we spend on these ships and you're not lounging around in individual suites with balconies? Surely the bathrooms were at least bigger on the naval ship? :)

Good Bot. I'm glad you read the Daily Wire.

Now what are your thoughts on this time lapsed video of a container ship?

Interesting time-lapse.

Decades ago I managed export operations to several of my company's branch manufacturing facilities around the world, one being located in Singapore. This video made it feel like I delivered the equipment myself. ;-)

Thanks for sharing.

By the way, TB3, Just the Facts! is one of several pseudonyms employed by Majormajor -- of whom I'm sure you're familiar. He's not a "Bot", obvious, only a misinformed and trolling contagion of the alt-right mindset. He's harmless, really, just a nuisance like any common housefly.

TB3,

So you agree with what Jimmy Carter said?

Speaking with New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd in a piece
titled "Jimmy Carter Lusts for a Trump Posting", Carter opined on
a number of political topics:

He knocked former President Barack Obama's decision to bomb Yemen, as well as his refusal to hold more serious discussions with North Korea.

On NFL players protesting racial injustice and bias in law enforcement by kneeling during the national anthem, Carter said players "ought to find a different way to object, to demonstrate," saying he wished players would stand during the anthem.

He said although Trump may be contributing to the souring of America's image in the world, the declining image of America "precedes Trump."

Carter was not as bothered by Trump's relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and disagreed with his wife about the impact of Russia's meddling in the 2016 election, saying "I don't think there's any evidence that what the Russians did changed enough votes, or any votes."

Carter claimed that the "media have been harder on Trump than any other president certainly that I've known about," saying that reporters felt "free to claim that Trump is mentally deranged and everything else without hesitation."

Thank you, JG. I can see that now. An odd choice, jumping between usernames like that.

Progressives have taken their Trump derangement syndrome to a whole new level...

Thousands of anguished libs in Boston and Philadelphia will be taking part in scream fests on Nov. 8 to commemorate the anniversary of Donald Trump's election. Liberals in other cities around the country are likely to step up to the crazy plate as well as the big day draws near.

Over 4,000 Facebook users in the Boston area have RSVP'd to attend the event they're calling "Scream helplessly at the sky on the anniversary of the election." Another 33,000 have expressed interest in attending the event at the 383-year-old Boston Common.

Over looking the fact that much of math is based mathematics of Arabs.

Congresswomen Waters could not be reached for comment.

A University of Illinois math professor believes that algebra and geometry perpetuate “white privilege” because Greek terms give Caucasians unearned credit for the subject.

But that isn’t the professor’s only complaint. She also believes that evaluations for math proficiency perpetuates discrimination against minority students, if they do worse than their white counterparts.

Rochelle Gutierrez argues in a newly published math education book for teachers that they must be aware of the identity politics surrounding the subject of mathematics.

“On many levels, mathematics itself operates as Whiteness,” she argues with complete sincerity, according to Campus Reform. “Who gets credit for doing and developing mathematics, who is capable in mathematics, and who is seen as part of the mathematical community is generally viewed as White.”

Gutierrez argues that subjects like algebra and geometry, which relate to arithmetic, also perpetuate racism and white privilege. She worries that “curricula emphasizing terms like Pythagorean theorem and pi perpetuate a perception that mathematics was largely developed by Greeks and other Europeans.”

Gutierrez claims that the importance of math skills in the real world also places what she calls an “unearned privilege” for those who are good at it. Because most math teachers in the United States are white, white people stand to benefit from their grasp of the subject disproportionate to members of other races.

“Are we really that smart just because we do mathematics?” she asks, raising the question as to why math professors get more grants.

JG, glad you enjoyed the video, sir. I thought it was pretty amazing. We sometimes fail to understand how big our world and oceans are, even when we condense that month-long video into ten minutes. I founding it rather fascinating.

Yes, JTF, but what are your thoughts on this video you're responding to?

Clinton campaign, DNC paid for research that led to Russia dossier.

By Adam Entous, Devlin Barrett and Rosalind S. Helderman October 24 at 7:21 PM Washington Post

The Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee helped fund research that resulted in a now-famous dossier containing allegations about President Trump’s connections to Russia and possible coordination between his campaign and the Kremlin, people familiar with the matter said.

Well who ever would have thought that?

LOL

That is because today's Democrat Party bears very little resemblance to your father's or grandfather's Democrat Party. Now they are about special interests to line their own pockets. They are largely no longer liberals but are instead leftists. Of course not all of Democrat elected officials are, but enough of them to change the Overton window of the party so that their positions on issues as a group is definitely on the far left extreme now. The fact that very few few people seem to care is what is truly disturbing as this means that the hyper-leftist shift will only continue.

So did you like the time-lapse video? :)

Yes, my son had all ready shared it with me..He's working on his PhD in Marine Chemistry at UC San Diego, so I had seen it before.
On our first cruise my wife and I were amazed at the night at sea.

Interesting how the Trump/Russia theme has opened up a can of worms for our leftest "friends" to deal with.

Darrell Michaels said...

LOL! I imagine you get lots of interesting articles, videos, and such from your son. That is very cool.

As for Russia, well just as many of us suspected, there is far more to the stench with Hillary and the Obama administration's collusion than what we were first lead to believe, it would seem.
