Painfully Remembering Obama 2/28/2017

President Obama bowing to Saudi Arabian King Abdullah

Wondering why some of our progressive friends fail to see the arrogance and buffoonery of former President Obama.

Arrogance and buffoonery? If he could have run a third time he would have won in a landslide. Most reasonable people really enjoyed having a responsible, kind, forward thinking president.

Jim, I respectfully disagree. I think many of those that are further to the Left would have indeed voted for Obama again; however, there were enough disaffected voters, even among the centrists and some blue dog Democrats, that his re-election for a third term would have been unlikely, sir. Look at the political legacy Obama left with his disastrous policies throughout the nation. Congress built huge Republican majorities under Obama's tenure. So did many state governorships and state congresses. All of this was a result of the dissatisfaction that most voters felt towards Obama's agenda. (Bernie Sander might have one though had the DNC not colluded with Hillary to disenfranchise him.)

While many good folks that didn't have the time or interest in following the minute details on a daily basis might have liked Obama, they were generally not as fond of some of his core policies on healthcare, immigration, and even foreign policy issues like the Iran deal.

Obama routinely ignored congress and the constitution. What he could not get passed through legislatively, he pushed for through the courts and by executive order. His usurpation and degradation of our constitutional liberties should have been a huge red flag to all Americans as he restricted our first, second, fourth, and tenth amendment rights just for starters. He did so out of arrogance.

Lastly, his "forward thinking" is little more than recycled socialist/communist policies that have bankrupted or jeopardized many European economies and those throughout other parts of the world. Socialism/Communism does not work. It is the height of arrogance to think that it would, "if only I were in charge" like he thought.

And that's why HRC lost.

Thank you for the photo, T. Paine.

You may be interested in other Presidents in similar poses.

President Eisenhower

President Nixon

President Bush

President Reagan

President Clinton

In fact, President Bush bowed to the same Saudi King as did President Obama, then went on to kiss and hold hands.

Anyone might suspect that conservatives, for some unknown reason, are still anxious to hold President Obama to an entirely different standard. Present company excepted, of course.

Do you have any insight as to what that reason could possibly be?

Burr,

Thank you for the link to the Daily Koz, setting American's standard for liberal fake news. I guess you didn't look at the photos in the link cause if you had you would have realized GWB bowed his head in order to receive a medal around his neck. Unfortunately there are no photos of the holding hands and kissing as you claim, so I guess that is YOUR fake news.

I painfully remember Obama every August 22nd.

Burr,

So, you have a problem with men kissing men? Homophobic?

TB3 said...

Major,

I think Burr's broader point was that a big deal from one side of the political spectrum was made over Obama bowing to a foreign dignitary but similar outrage towards another President's arguably more intimate gesture to a foreign dignitary did not coalesce. I believe Burr was pointing out hypocrisy, not demonstrating homophobia. I find it telling that you took the conversation in that direction rather than accepting the hypocrisy of the Right's attitude towards the picture T. Paine posted.

As Majormajor noted, President Bush appeared to be bowing to Saudi king Abdullah when in actuality, he was be presented an award around his neck in the picture shown.

As for bowing to Japanese officials, one can even see in some pictures that the bowing was mutual. Obama had another picture of a deep bow that was not reciprocated.

As for Bush kissing and holding hands with the Saudi King, that is a custom in that culture. It was not an act of subservience as was Obama's seemingly bow-fest in his apology tour around the world.
