Matt Walsh: I Didn't Fall in Love with My Wife

"It’s no surprise that we are so bad at marriage in this culture.

We’re bad at it because we don’t understand it, and we don’t understand it because we don’t understand love. You can’t forge a lasting marriage if all you know about love is what you learned from an Ed Sheeran song. It’s like trying to build a car when you think engines run on fairy dust. And that’s essentially how many of us approach marriage. We believe it’s fueled by some intense and mystical emotional force — a force we inaccurately call 'love' — and as soon as we run out of this mysterious cosmic gasoline all we can do is send it to the scrap yard and find a new model."

I was wondering if all this relationship advise also pertains to gay couples? No, I didn't think so. LOL

James, you are killing me. LOL.

I suppose the actual "choice" and "decision" to love a partner is the same, sir.

Real love is the wanting and working towards the best interest of one's beloved. It is a continuous and conscious choice to always do so in putting that best interest of the beloved above all else except God. If both partners reciprocate with that true agape love towards each other, than a loving harmonious relationship results. In that context, I don't see why this would nullify the same principle as applied to a same sex couples.

That said, it is my belief as informed by my religious faith and conscience, that marriage is, was, and always will be only between one man and one woman.

We need this kind of diversity here, says the dangerous, and hopefully eradicated, left'

Multiculturalism. Leftists who know better than we say that it’s best for society.

Demeaning large groups of people to make yourself feel better just makes you look poorly. I found the anti Liberal cartoon lacking wit and humor myself.

I suggest you stick to political facts and articles otherwise you reveal too much of yourself.

Why am I not surprised you wold find a cartoon making fun of PC offensive?

Snowflakes.

In tight knit fiefdoms and villages throughout the world where many Muslims live in many third world countries, this is not surprising to me.

Any group that wishes to segregate or put itself outside of the rest of the world's or nation's society will eventually fall prey to this phenomenon. It happened amongst much of the royalty of European monarchies in centuries past, where a noble could only marry someone else of noble blood. Those families were a small portion of the population at large so inbreeding inevitably resulted in some cases.

Even in the history of my own state of Utah, the original Mormon polygamists took multiple wives and segregated themselves from the rest of society when it came to marrying. The result, especially amongst current polygamists today, is that cousins end up marrying cousins or even closer family relatives as a result.

The thought with the royal families of Europe was to keep the bloodline pure. What it did was weaken the progeny down the line. The same is ultimately true of all those that succumb to such genetic inbreeding.

Well, with all due respect to James, I thought the cartoon was rather clever. I think many of the college students depicted in "their own words" are frankly more cartoonish than the animated characters were though. One has to admit that people aren't even allowed to voice conservative or even varying opinions from that of leftist orthodoxy on college campuses, unless they are expecting to be bullied, shouted down, or outright prevented from speaking.

Although I am not a fan, I give you Ann Coulter and her former invitation to speak at U.C. Berkeley as a case in point.

It makes one wonder what the heck the left is so damned afraid of in hearing conservative viewpoints. If those viewpoints are nuts, they could easily be defeated with facts in debates. Or they could simply be ignored and none other than a few fringe kooks would ever choose to believe them. Instead we have to set up college "safe spaces" so that no conflicting opinions from that of the left will be allowed to "harm" our poor delicate college students. This is abject nonsense and does not resemble anything like the real world. Such a college education of that type absolutely does not prepare students to become a productive part of society. It isn't like most businesses are going to provide safe spaces at work so that young Susie and Johnny won't ever have to hear anything that might upset them or differ from their beliefs.

I was once of the opinion that college was supposed to open one's mind to new ideas, ideals, and people. Instead, today they seem to be nothing more than breeding grounds for homogeneity of thought.

Mr. Paine,

The Left is terrified of free speech. Like I've said before, liberalism cannot compete in the free market place of ideas.

Example: the first Earth Day's forecasts have failed to come about in the time span that was predicted. That is the truth that the Left fears will be injected into the debate on man caused climate change.
