Lieutenant Colonel Allen West for Congress

Free0352 over at John Galt for President turned me on to Lieutenant Colonel Allen West via one of his blog postings. Colonel West is now retired from the Army and is running for congress in Florida's 22 district. He is indeed a huge breath of fresh air over the politicians, and I use that word in the derogatory sense it deserves, that are currently "representing us" in congress.

This gentleman definitely gets it. He strikes me as someone that understands our nation's history and I love the fact that he calls for everyone to "support and defend the Constitution".
Again, see the posting at John Galt for President for a great You-tube posting on Colonel West. John Galt for President: Motivated#links

Anyway, while doing some further research to learn more about Colonel West, I came across this letter he posted on his friend's blog earlier this late summer. http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2009/08/lt-colonel-.html . I have reprinted it here as I find it interesting. It's nice to finally see a man of conviction and not one of just flowery platitudes, that can speak from the heart and not need a teleprompter to tell him what to say. Enjoy the article!

Lieutenant Colonel Allen B West (US Army, Retired)

“Do unto Liberals as they have done to you”

Greetings fellow South Florida riders, South Floridians, and Americans, here we are for another monthly installment of our Wheels on the Road political assessment. The time just seems to fly between composing these missives, what a month it has been.

Last month’s Washingtoons piece was entitled, “The Breaking Point; Summer of Discontent”. Now I would never consider myself prescient but it does not take a rocket scientist to realize what has occurred this past month. Americans who have been disregarded by members of Congress and Senate have had enough.

They did not want the TARP bill last October. They did not want the stimulus bill. They did not want the Cap and Trade bill. They have seen the national debt, deficit, and unemployment grow. However, in each instance no one listened and all these pieces of legislation were passed; of course Cap and Trade awaits Senate approval.

We mentioned last month that the new target was healthcare and the 1000+ page bill is chock full of mandates that have nothing to do with improving healthcare for Americans. The people have read this bill, something that some members of Congress admit they don’t do……Congressman John Conyers. Americans are not convinced that this proposed plan will reform healthcare, rather just promote more government growth, government control, and tax increases.

As members have come home for their taxpayer funded summer recess, they have been welcomed home by constituents who want answers. These townhall forums have become rather heated, but who can blame the people?

However, what has been the response from the liberal Democrats and the mainstream media?
Concerned American citizens are being called Nazi’s, evilmongers, racists, tea bagging rednecks, and right wing extremists. They have been accused of organized protest and even had an email set up, flag@whitehouse.gov, which enables their “fishy behavior” to be reported. And there have been Americans who received unsolicited emails from David Axelrod with the White House letterhead to their private email accounts. Three of my friends have received such. We are witnessing something really disturbing in America.

At issue is not the reaction of concerned American citizens but rather the response from the Democrats, liberal media, and the DNC. It seems they are resorting to their normal Saul Alinsky “Rules for Radicals” tactics; Rule #5, Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.

They are lowering themselves to calling American’s a mob and trying to depict concerned American’s as sore losers. What they fail to realize is that in America we live in a Republic where we respect the rule of law, not being ruled. We have a Constitution which affords its citizens rights such as free speech, freedom of expression, and freedom to petition the government.
It is amazing to me that when the opposition to President Obama’s questionable policies expresses their dissent they are demeaned. When I flip over to CNN and MSNBC, not often but to understand what the opposition thinks, I find that they don’t think. They only seek to create a racial confrontation by fomenting the belief that white American’s refuse to accept a black POTUS.

What the liberal socialists had best recognize is that their venom is no longer effective, we are anesthetized to their bite. Seems we found anti-venom and we all have been injected to produce anti-bodies. We are not going to back down.

As well, the DNCs running of insidious advertisements and the White House created “Great American Snitch” program only indicate desperation. One must find it comical that the same folks who brought you the professional community organizer President are attacking citizens organizing. We have seen anti-war protests by Code Pink, PETA tossing blood on individuals, left wing enviro-terrorist groups attacking SUV dealerships, ACORN and SEIU protests, and even voter intimidation at polling stations (New Black Panther Party, Philadelphia). Yet, concerned American citizens are called extremists?

President George W Bush was constantly attacked from his inauguration in Jan 2001 to the day he departed office Jan 20, 2009. Dare you speak of the anointed one? You are a racist.
Left wing blogs attacked Governor Sarah Palin and made allegations that her young Son Trig is not hers. But when the opposition questions the birth certificate authenticity of President Obama they are referred to in derision as “birthers”. Left wing news media attacked former First Lady Laura Bush reference a traffic accident when she was a teenager. No one is questioning the law license inactive status of First Lady Michele Obama. And what is up with (22) staffers for the First Lady Michele?

The Bush twins were regularly part of media attacks, dare no one speak of the Obama daughters who attend wonderful Sidwell Friends School. This is an exclusive school where it is not possible for other children in DC, who are just a little less fortunate but qualified, to attend thanks to their Dad’s decision.

What is happening is that some of us read the book “Rules for Radicals” and we are turning the table on the liberals. Here are some examples;
Rule 1: “Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have”
Rule 3: “Wherever possible go outside of the experience of the enemy. Here you want to cause confusion, fear, and retreat”
Rule 4: “Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules. You can kill them with this……”
Rule 8: “Keep the pressure on, with different tactics and actions……”
Rule 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself”
Rule 11: “If you push a negative hard enough and deep enough it will break through into its counterside”
Rule 13: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it”

It seems to me that the liberals are great at dishing it out but intolerant of taking a punch.
As for me, well, I am above the name calling. I would never say President Barack Hussein Obama is a thin skinned, inept, malignant narcissist. It is beneath me to call Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid a weak spineless wimp. It is unconscionable to refer to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi as a maniacal pathological liar.

However, my opponent Congressman Ron Klein, well, does remind me of the Cowardly Lion from Wizard of Oz….before the Wizard gave him courage.

As a 22 year US Army combat Veteran I can smell fear, and the left wing liberals are showing it.
My admonition, be like a shark which senses blood in the water and attack. The left truly felt that since they won, we would lie down and not fight back against their dangerous agenda, wrong!

I will say what may not be politically correct but the future and legacy of our Country is at stake. Get out there and live by the new Golden Rule, “Do Unto Liberals as they Have Done to You”….and watch them crack.

Steadfast and Loyal!

Cal Thomas; Radical Change Starts Small

I saw this editorial from Cal Thomas and thought that I could have written this very piece myself. He echoes my opinions on every single point made. Enjoy!

Not all revolutions begin in the streets with tanks and guns. Some advance slowly, almost imperceptibly, until a nation is transformed and the public realizes too late that their freedoms are gone.

Such is the revolution now taking place in America. The '60s crowd has emerged from the ideological grave and is about to impose on this country a declaration of dependence in the form of government-run health insurance and treatment.

It matters not what facts are known about this "coup," because to those from the '60s - whether they lived in that decade or were born later and adopted its ideology - only feelings and intentions matter, not truth and results.

Why would anyone trust government - which has a difficult enough time winning wars - to properly administer health care? What track record does government have in living up to its economic forecasts and competence in running anything?

But this is about none of that. This is about liberal Democrats realizing their decades-old dream of complete control of our lives. Every move you make, every breath you take, they'll be watching you. Except, of course, when it comes to terrorists who want to destroy America faster than the liberals do. A different standard is applied to them.

Nowhere in the debate over health care "reform" have we heard a single word from liberal Democrats about personal responsibility, self-reliance and freedom. In fact, the message has come through quite clearly that government will penalize anyone who demonstrates such beliefs, as attempts to spread your wealth around.

This is how I see health care reform working: If you are a doctor who has spent a lot of money and time becoming a responsible and caring physician, the government will tell you how much to charge your patients and, in fact, whether you will be allowed to treat them at all. Bureaucrats, having given themselves the power of God, will decide whether a patient is worth the cost of treatment, thereby deciding who lives and who dies.

Despite the Stupak-Pitts Amendment, somewhere down the line taxpayers will be forced to underwrite abortions in violation of the consciences and faith of the majority.

This is the triumph of the humanistic, atheistic worldview. We are all to be regarded as products of evolution in which the fit and the powerful will decide our survival and worth.

When Republicans were in the majority, deficits mattered to Democrats. Now we see the expressed concern was a sham, because if deficits meant something when they were relatively small, they ought to mean something more when we are in hock up to the necks of our Chinese-made clothes.

We've only just begun with this. The new breast and ovarian cancer screening guidelines may soon become mandatory as health care rationing kicks in. The unwanted, the inconvenient and the "burdensome" could soon be dispatched with a pill, or through neglect.

Great horrors don't begin in gas chambers, killing fields, or forced famines. They begin when there is a philosophical shift in a nation's leadership about the value of human life.

Novelist Walker Percy examined the underlying philosophy that led to the Holocaust and wrote: "In a word, certain consequences, perhaps unforeseen, follow upon the acceptance of the principle of the destruction of human life for what may appear to be the most admirable social reasons."

In our day, the consequences of government seizure of one-sixth of our economy and government's ability to decide how we run our lives (it won't stop with health care) are foreseen.
They are just being ignored in our continued pursuit of personal peace, affluence and political power.

Opinion polls show a majority of Americans reject this health care "reform" bill. They think haste may waste them in the end. It doesn't matter. Like members of a cult, whatever the leader says, goes. The facts be damned. The crowd from the '60s will "seize the time," in the words of Black Panther radical Bobby Seale, thus sealing our doom as a unique and wonderful nation.

Welcome to the U.S.S.A., the United Socialist States of America.

Yeah, what Cal said!

Off to a Great Start in Rip City!

I realize that the season has only just begun, but I cannot help but be happy and hopeful with the results of my mighty Portland Trailblazers thus far. With 1/8th of the 2009/2010 season finished now, the future NBA world champions are 1st in their division, 2nd in the Western Conference, and tied for 3rd in the entire NBA!

Seeing this almost takes the sting out of my Seahawks very sad NFL season thus far. Anyway, this is just a small part of the reason why I say that deep inside EVERYBODY is a Trailblazer fan whether they know it or not! (Even my otherwise-perfect wife who refuses to admit her love for OUR Trailblazers!)

The Coming Trial of the 9/11 Mastermind

I read with dismay a posting at Honest Partisan (see the link in my left-wing blogs section) that the author of that blog, who is a partisan Democrat and attorney from New York City, actually agrees with the Obama administration’s decision to move terrorist and 9/11 mastermind Kahlid Sheikh Mohammed from his cell in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to the city of New York to be afforded U.S. Constitutional rights and a trial there.

The foolishness and downright dangerousness of this decision is staggering. I heard former New York City mayor Rudy Guliani say last Friday when this decision was announced that aside from myriads of other excellent reasons for not doing this, the moving of KSM to New York City for trial puts a further burden on NYC police and security personnel and places the city at an even graver risk for an attack than the heightened chances that already exist for such an episode on a daily basis.

Basically, President Obama has changed policy on terrorism from the Bush administration where they treated such attacks as acts of war and instead went back to the Clinton era policy of treating terrorism as criminal acts that should be handled by police. The decision to do so will only serve to embolden our enemies, weaken our prosecution on the war on terror, and have the potential to seriously undermine our national defense and intelligence gathering capabilities to counteract future terror plots.

Kahlid Sheikh Mohammed is NOT some leader of a gang of inner-city thugs that are a part of his posse. He is a leader of Al Qeada and an enemy combatant that refuses to accept the dictates of the Geneva Convention as he and his ilk intentionally target civilian and military targets with equal prejudice. His regard for life is non-existent and to treat his deeds as felonious actions is ludicrous in the extreme.

Further, by affording this piece of human debris constitutional rights to a trial in New York City, KSM will have access to all sorts of intelligence gathered by the CIA, FBI, and Department of Defense personnel in order to provide for his own defense at trial. By allowing him unfettered access to this type of information, many sources of our intelligence gathering could be compromised and attacked by Al Qeada. To continue, if the wrong judge were appointed to oversee KSM’s trial, say perhaps some ACLU-terrorist-rights-liberal judge, then it is conceivable that the judge could throw out much of the evidence against KSM, including his own confessions, by saying these things were inadmissible in court because KSM was tortured to get this information. Never, mind that once KSM was water-boarded he provided invaluable information that helped us catch other terrorists and foil their operations for future attacks that were in the planning stages. Now KSM will have the right to an attorney to challenge in public court the “illegally obtained” evidence against him and have those responsible brought in to testify against him in court, regardless of the secrecy of their identities.

Evidently President Obama and his Attorney General, Eric Holder, (A man who already is guilty of recommending the past Clinton pardons of the Puerto Rican FALN terrorists and white collar criminal Mark Rich in the waning hours of the Clinton administration) want to make the gathering of intelligence and protecting our nation even more difficult in order to provide U.S. Constitutional rights to a non-American terrorist bent on destroying the very fabric of our nation. Does this irony strike anyone else as completely absurd?

Kahlid Sheikh Mohammed should remain in Gitmo with his fellow terrorists. He should be provided a military lawyer and a military tribunal at Gitmo. He should be found guilty of the crimes he committed and confessed to having done and masterminded and he should be punished accordingly. Anything else will only show our enemy that we are no longer serious about the war on terror.

There is a reason that once President Bush changed this policy to an actual war instead of a matter for police that no other terrorist acts were successfully perpetrated on U.S. soil.
The police cannot prosecute a criminal until AFTER he has committed a crime. In the case of war, we can and have put these human scum on defense and taken the war to them.

Now Obama will take a step backward and allow the terrorists to resume being on offense. We will see future attacks on our country accordingly. It is just a matter of time. It greatly troubles and saddens me too, because it is so needless to have the future loss of property and life that will occur all for the hope that by allowing a public trial for a terrorist will show the world and the terrorists that the United States wants to be their friend.

President Obama should be impeached for this alone in my opinion. He took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and the United States of America. He has done the absolute opposite on both of these accounts. I would think that this would be a step too far, even for those living in New York City where some of the worst of these acts of war occurred only eight short years ago.

The XXVIII Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

I have an idea to help reign in our politburo congress and their self-regard to rights that they think that only they should be afforded and to which We The People should not.

Amendment XXVIII

Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the
United States that does not apply equally to the Senators or
Representatives of the United States Congress.

Congress shall also make no law that applies to the Senators or
Representatives of Congress that does not apply equally to the
citizens of the United States.

Now let's throw out every last member of congress that refuses to endorse this Constitutional amendment! Ahhh, if only it were that easy to actually do!

When the people fear their government there is tyranny; when the
government fears the people, there is liberty. -Thomas Jefferson

Tim Hawkins - The Government Can

Would You Have Approved?

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and that he is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9 /11?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America, would you have approved..

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W.. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 9 months -- so you'll have three years and three months to come up with an answer.

Take This War Seriously, Mr. President!

During the campaign, then-senator Obama promised that if he were elected he would pull out troops from George Bush's war in Iraq and concentrate on the real war on terror in Afghanistan. Well since becoming president, Obama seems to have completely forgotten, or more likely chosen to renege on his promise. He even changed the "war on terror" to some asinine politically correct phrase of "man-caused disaster" so as not to offend our enemies, I suppose.

General McChrystal, the commanding general for the war in Afghanistan, played hell even trying to get a meeting with our commander in chief to discuss the war for the first eight months of Obama's presidency. When they finally did meet, General McChrystal laid out his reasons why he needed at least 40,000 more troops to be deployed in order to accomplish his mission in Afghanistan.

President Obama has since been weighing his options on what to do for the past month and half since then; meanwhile the situation continues to degrade and more unnecessary deaths mount for Afghani's and Americans while Obama dithers around in indecision.

Well it was reported today what Obama's decision will be regarding his choosing of one of the four separate plans presented to him to help win the war in Afghanistan. His choice? None of the above. Obama is not happy with any of these choices and wants everyone to go back to the drawing board on options for him.

His timidity and indecision only emboldens the Taliban and al Queda while weakening the morale of our military as they encounter higher casualties because of the fact that they are spread too thin. This is totally unacceptable for Obama. Either he needs to give the troops requested by General McChrystal to finish the job, or he needs to pull everyone out of the area RIGHT NOW.

Pulling everyone out would have disastrous long-term consequences and would likely kick the can down the road to 2012 when we have a new president in office that will hopefully not be cowardly and will actually look at this war as a necessity for our national security and not a political conundrum.

While I strongly disagreed with most of Obama's past domestic and foreign policy decisions, I tried to keep my personal feelings for him as objective as possible. However, when he shows such huge disregard for our servicemen, let alone our national security, I can no longer give him even the benefit of the doubt. He is a politician in the very worst sense of the word and his landslide defeat to come in 2012 cannot come here soon enough. I will pray for those that are put in harms way needlessly because of his fecklessness and timidity, which will only serve to bolster the courage of our enemies.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised at this after Obama spent the first two minutes of a national press conference to address the terrorist killings of our soldiers at Fort Hood by giving a shout out to people and discussing native American rights. George W. Bush did a lot, even most things, wrong, but he could be counted on to look out for our servicemen and our country's defense. Evidently this is another way in which Obama chooses not to be like his predecessor.

Rush Limbaugh Nov 10 2009 Morning Update

Happy Birthday to the Marine Corps

On November 10th, 1775, a meeting was held by a committee of the continental congress at Tun's Tavern. The purpose of that meeting was to form a needed fighting force that could operate on sea and on land. At the close of that meeting, the formation of two battalions of Marines were authorized and the United States Marine Corps was born.

Having served in the Navy myself, I find that I love the Marines in the same way that an older brother loves and puts up with a precocious, tough, and obnoxious younger brother. It strikes me as appropriate that the Marine Corp was born in a tavern, accordingly. The men, and women, of this arm of the United States armed forces is perhaps the proudest and definitely the toughest fighting force the world has ever seen. They are also by far the smallest branch of the armed forces.

I have had the privilege of serving with and being friends with several Marines over the years. Everyone one of them was and is a good man that embodies the spirit of the Marine Corp motto, Semper Fidelis. (Always Faithful) So on this day of the 234th birthday of the Corp, I want to say thank you to all of you fantastic Marines out there and Happy Birthday to the tip of the U.S. spear. Just remember though, that the Marines still fall under the Department of the Navy!

A Good Sign of Things to Come...Hopefully

I am heartened to see that one of the many states I used to live in, Virginia, regained its sanity and flushed most of the Democrats up for election last night, including for the office of governor. Evidently there was some strong buyer’s remorse over giving control of the state to the Democrats during the last election and voters decided to put their universe back in order once again.

Likewise, it makes me happy to see the Democratic governor of New Jersey, John Corzine, get shown the door in favor of a conservative Republican in what is arguably one of the bluest states in the country. Corzine lost despite (or perhaps because of?!?) FIVE campaign visits from President Obama to the state in order to help him and the spending of many millions of Corzine’s own fortune to try to hold onto the governorship.

Unfortunately, Republican governor-elect Christie is going to have a very tough job in cleaning house of this still heavily-Democrat-controlled state where corruption in government is simply their standard operating procedure. Nonetheless, the folks from the state of New Jersey now have a chance to finally see the beginning of some real change they can believe in, perhaps.

The truly funny thing is that despite a very good night for Republicans across most of the United States, speaker Nancy Pelosi still stated that “We won last night”. My thought on that is just wait until this time next year. She is in for the win of a lifetime if she is pleased with last night’s results!

U.S. Catholic Bishops' Stance on Health Care

At the end of Mass on Sunday, our priest made an announcement to take note of the special insert in our church bulletin handed out after Mass from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. This insert states the USCCB's opinion on abortion issues as currently stated in the various health care bills before congress, and is supposedly to be sent out in all Catholic Church bulletins across the United States today. I have typed out the text of the insert in its entirety below:

United States Conference of Catholic Bishops

USCCB Nationwide Bulletin Insert

Tell Congress: Remove Abortion Funding & Mandates from Needed Health Care Reform

Congress is preparing to debate health care reform legislation on the House and Senate floors.

Genuine health care reform should protect the life and dignity of all people from the moment of conception until natural death. The U.S. bishops' conference has concluded that all committee-approved bills are seriously deficient on the issues of abortion and conscience, and do not provide adequate access to health care for immigrants and the poor. The bills will have to change or the bishops have pledged to oppose them.

Our nation is at a crossroads. Policies adopted in health reform will have an impact for good or ill for years to come. None of the bills retains longstanding current policies against abortion funding or abortion coverage mandates, and none fully protects conscience rights in health care.

As the U.S. bishops' letter of October 8 states:
"No one should be required to pay for or participate in abortion. It is essential that the legislation clearly apply to this new program longstanding and widely supported federal restrictions on abortion funding and mandates, and protections for rights of conscience. No current bill meets this test.... If acceptable language in these areas cannot be found, we will have to oppose the health care bill vigorously."

For the full text of this letter and more information on proposed legislation and the bishops' advocacy for authentic health care reform, visit: www.usccb.org/healthcare .

Congressional leaders are attempting to put together final bills for floor consideration. Please contact your Representative and Senators today and urge them to fix these bills with the pro-life amendments noted below. Otherwise much needed health care reform will have to be opposed. Health care reform should be about saving lives, not destroying them.

ACTION: Contact Member through e-mail, phone calls or FAX letters.
To send a pre-written, instant e-mail to Congress go to www.usccb.org/action .
Call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at: 202-224-3121, or call you Members' local offices.
Full contact info can be found on Members' web sites at www.house.gov & www.senate.gov .

MESSAGE TO SENATE:
"During floor debate on the health care reform bill, please support an amendment to incorporate longstanding policies against abortion funding and in favor of conscience rights. If these serious concerns are not addressed, the final bill should be opposed."

MESSAGE TO HOUSE:
"Please support the Stupak Amendment that addresses essential pro-life concerns on abortion funding and conscience rights in the health care reform bill. Help ensure that the Rule for the bill allows a vote on this amendment. If these serious concerns are not addressed, the final bill should be opposed."

WHEN: Both House and Senate are preparing for floor votes now. Act today! Thank you!

The bottom line for me is that all of the current iterations of health care bills out there are seriously flawed and will only serve to worsen our health care system while destroying our economy. The abortion funding and conscience issues contained within those bills are simply the most egregious and evil parts of the bills. I am proud that the Catholic Church is standing up to fight against this outrage being done under the auspices of "helping people".
Further, it saddens me that supposedly Catholic speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi intentionally had the House bill drafted in such a manner as it now stands. Hopefully enough people will speak out against this travesty and she will see the error of her thinking on this matter. We shall see...

Demons and Saints

Well, my Halloween was indeed horrifyingly scary when I realized that Reid, Pelosi, and an Obama administration official are getting close to having a vote on a nearly 2000 page health care bill they drafted, which very few (if any) members of congress will even have read at the time of the vote. That should scare every American to think that our flawed health care will become forever more like the DMV, if this Frankenstein bill passes.

Today I do have hope though, for it is "All Saints Day", which is a Holy day of obligation for Catholics. I will go to Mass accordingly in a little while and ask my patron saint to pray to our Lord that our health care is not destroyed by this socialist bill. Perhaps a bit ironically, my patron saint happens to be St. Jude. He was one of the twelve disciples of our Lord and the patron saint of lost or desperate causes.
