Ever Notice?

Have ya ever noticed that:

If a conservative doesn't like guns, they don't buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, then no one should have one.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, they don't eat meat.
If a liberal is, they want to ban all meat products for everyone.

If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.
A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

If a conservative is homosexual, they quietly enjoy their life.
If a liberal is homosexual, they loudly demand legislated respect.

If a black man or Hispanic is conservative, they see themselves as independently successful. Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A liberal wants any mention of God or religion silenced.

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping
for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that his neighbors pay for his.

If a conservative agrees with a charity, he supports it with his time or money.
A liberal will insist that tax payer money be allocated to support their charities.

That a conservative, while annoyed or occasionally angered about certain aspects thereof, still loves, supports, and KNOWS that he lives in the greatest country on God's earth,
While a liberal will run down the nation's accomplishments, economy, and freedoms as being the moral equivalent or worse than many third world dictatorships.

Ever notice these things?

(part two)
Religion: it is right wing dogma that despite all the facts to the contrary, America is a Christian nation, and that other religions are merely tolerated. Being an athiest is a disqualifier for public office.

The left supports the first amendment as it was intended to be: freedom of religion and freedom from religion. Your choice.

Health care: the right believes in two-tiered health care. If you have money, you get care. If you are poor, you better hope there is a free clinic in your city. Othewise, you're SOL. And if you criticize the right's position on this, you are a communist or a Nazi.

The left believes health care should be a right guaranteed to all, regardless of income, and that health insurance companies do nothing but shuffle paper and interfere with doctors and their patients (all at a massive profit).

Charity: the right, by and large, does not support charities unless it can impose their extremist, socially conservative beliefs upon it.

The left thinks it is a valuable tool to help numerous causes, but is not a substitute for the government providing a social safety net for its most vulnerable citizens.

Patriotism: the right supports democracy when it wins elections, and opposes it when it loses. It also believes in reflexive support of GOP presidents and elected officials, and believes in reflexive opposition to all Democrats.

The left loves America, but doesn't feel that ignoring past mistakes is the best way to avoid making them again. Furthermore, the right of protesting is guaranteed in the Constitution and that includes protesting wars based on lies. America is the best country on earth, but even so, could still be impoved upon.

Hope you learned something, as you have a pretty warped view of what liberalism actually believes.

Mr. Splash, I appreciate your attempts to enlighten me, sir, but I am afraid that it is you that are in error on every single count.

First, there is a reason why the right to bear arms is the second amendment and not at the bottom of the Bill of Rights. Everyone has a God given right to defend himself from someone that would take his life otherwise. Unfortunately, that absolutely includes churches (remember the huge massacre several years ago at the Baptist Church in Texas by some evil nut job? An armed member of the congregation would probably have been able to save lives.) Same with stores. Just a few years ago we had an evil person go into a mall here called Trolley Square (a gun free zone declared by our liberals) and killed several people. An off-duty armed policeman was able to stand him off until help arrived thus preventing more deaths.

Our Founders knew that the right for its citizenry to keep and bear arms is what would guarantee that the government at least attempts to preserve our other Constitutional rights.

On national defense I must laugh at your characterization of the left being for a strong one. It is the left that is responsible for gravely weakening the military. (Carter and Clinton both did horrible damage by their draconian cuts in defense spending.) It was Reagan that won the cold war, and Bush Sr. that won the Gulf War because of investment in our national defense, sir.

As for gays, I personally think homosexuality is a sin, but it is not up to me to condemn people. I have a couple of friends and indeed a few relatives that are gay. I think they should be entitled to the same rights as everyone else EXCEPT for being able to misappropriate the religious term "marriage" for their use, and having been in the military I can see how allowing openly gay members in would seriously damage unity cohesiveness and morale, especially when living in very tight quarters such as on ship.

I would submit to you, Dave, that it is the LEFT that is patronizing of those minorities of color and NOT the right. Most of those on the right are the ones saying, "Look, I did this and you can too!" It is the left that denigrates and patronizes people of color when it says you are victims and cannot succeed without help from the government. THAT is a racist and patently false philosophy in my mind, sir.

Finally, on the last point I care to rebut here, America is indeed the very essence of a Christian nation. Its laws are steeped in Judeo-Christian values and indeed our very founding document as a nation specifically states that our rights are given to us by God ("We are endowed by our Creator") and that we are dependent upon His Divine providence as a nation. That is just from the Declaration of Independence. I could write volumes proving your assertion to the contrary is demonstrably false on this one, Mr. Splash.

Anyway I appreciate your attempt to educate me, but I choose to remain ignorant in this case, if I truly am in my positions here. Cheers!

Only one point, Paine. Why do you keep referring to Judeo-Christian, if you mean Christian? Are Christians the only ones who believe in God? Are Christians the only ones who refer to said God as the "creator." You, and many on the right, conflate religion and Christianity. Personally, I am Jewish, and am very offended when I hear people referring to America as a Christian nation. So am I not welcome here? Am I not allowed to be free to think and or worship as I please? Could a Jew not be president of this Christian nation?

Look, if the founders wanted our country to be a one religion country (the textbook definition of a "Christian nation") then why didn't they explicitly put that into the Constitution? You righties always talk of "original intent." How could the intent of the Founding Fathers have been to establish a Christian nation, yet forget completely to mention that in the Constitution. To me, that is the fatal flaw of the relatively new argument from the right that the US is Christian.

I just want to clarify, this country WAS founded on JUDEO-Christian values. Not just on Christian values. The two are very much intertwined though.

Again, I refer you to the Madison quotation in my more recent posting stating how he used the Book of Isaiah from the Old Testament (Hebrew / Jewish scriptures) as his model of forming our government in the U.S. Constitution. That is immeasurable "Judeo" influence on OUR country.

Lastly, even our Muslim brothers have their roots in the Old Testament before Mohammed came and the Koran was written.

Please don't look so quickly at a perceived offense against you, particularly when none was meant to be given, my friend. Cheers!
